Aria Sinsonido Portable Bass

Mine's great that way, too. She won't have the guts or info to go Buy me a bass, but she has always been really understanding when I tell her I Really, Really need one.
It's always great having a spousal unit that understands musicianGAS.
At yesterday's gig, a few different people had to come up and ask about the bass - regular listening folks and bass playing folks. I told all of them to take it from my hand, and when they did, they were all amazed.
The bass also continues to perform extremely well at the gigs. Our guitar players loves the tone, and so do I.
I'm so enthusiastic about it - maybe Aria would make me an endorser.

Do any of you have an opinion which would make a better travel guitar, this or Steinberger for instance?
This bass is smaller and lighter than a Steinberger.
The one disadvantage is the case. The gig bag that comes with it doesn't offer much protection, and it's too big - the bass can actually float around in it.

In my opinion, the Sinsonido sounds like a cross between an electric and an acoustic bass. However, I use it for All kinds of music - including some fairly aggressive sounding music - but I'm comfortable doing so, and, I'm a little crazy.
Other people wouldn't use it the way I'm using it.Steinbergers are cool instruments, too, in their own way. But, they are quite a bit heavier than a Sinsonido.
Feel? Not sure how to answer that either. Action wise, I have set my Sinsonido very low, and it works great. Also, the quality of the fingerboard is excellent. Well above what I would usually expect at that price.

I read somewhere, a long time ago (not sure where either), that someone had used a converted gun/rifle case as a hard case alternative to the Sinsonido gig bag.
I love my Sinsonido bass. After suffering a crippling back injury during an epileptic fit, the Sinsonido was my saviour, allowing me to carry on playing when other basses were just too heavy. The sound is awesome, in stereo as well, and looks truly fabulous.
I also think the Mark I (which I have) is nicer looking than the Mark II. In my opinion anyways.

Mark 1, Mark 2? Does anyone know the history of these basses? If SoloEtte licence them to Aria was there a pre-Aria model? (Not complaining about the bass as it's built now, just interested). When was it first on the market? Are those pickups/piezo-mics unique to this bass? And..do Aria know how highly some of us regard them?

As I mentioned before, my volume pot went out on this bass and Aria service just sent me a whole new preamp board. Got it the other day and put it in; everything's all ok again. Great service!

If a little more R&D/model deriving was possible, I'd point them towards exploring these:
- Another model without the bars, with rounder lines
- A bridge that holds the condensors And is adjustable
- 4 condensors instead of 2, with the ability to turn a mini pot and adjust level of each - to even out volume across strings.
I'd be willing to pay more money for that bass.
But, I love that baby. It's All I'm playing in the band now.
It ain't just for travel.
