If you check out the models page of the Soloette website, there are no basses. I'm sure mine says that the Sinsonido is under licence from Soloette? A 5 or 6 string bass would be superb. My model though

Aria Sinsonido Portable Bass

The general design - bars, etc. - and preamp design are licensed from Soloette.
But, I'll bet Aria did the specific bass design. If Soloette had produced that design, I'm sure they would have kept it in production. Their references to a bass in the future led me to believe they had never done one before.

Anyone ever successfully slide off one of the knobs?
I thought we discussed this, and I see a single reference, but I don't see a post with someone confirming they could pull them off. I thought someone had succeeded.

I replaced the preamp board in mine. In order to do that, the knobs had to come off. They just slide off the pots' shaft. The pot has knurled shafts that the plastic knobs slide onto.

Am I right though, that what we have here is the SoloEtte/Sinsonido frames, but not their pickup? Graphite, very cool appearance etc....and a serious price too of course.
Shows what good value Aria provide, and also that there's other imaginative development of the idea of what an electric bass is, and can be.

Moses discounts fairly heavily from list. That being said, with a lot of luthiers, you can pay $1.8k and guarantee quality. Moses? I'm not sure. In any case, it's a nice design. I have read through this thread, and I'm impressed that there is so much enthusiasm about the Sinsonido bass. I also wanted to address questions regarding a bass made by SoloEtte.
Rossco, the owner and inventor of the SoloEtte design, made the bass pickup for the Sinsonido line. They use different preamps than ours, but the pickups for the Sinsonido line are all made in our shop in Eugene, OR.
We have made two prototype basses although we have not sold one yet. Bill Blough from George Thorogood and the Destroyers played our bass during a local show and he liked it quite a bit. We are developing the final product for our bass, and we will do a product release once it's ready. Keep an eye on our website in the meantime at www.soloette.com.
The SoloEtte bass will have a Moses graphite neck and EMG pickups. This will be a performance bass that happens to disassemble for travel. I have attached a picture of our most recent design. It's not a great picture, but this is close to our final product. You can see in the picture that we have used a graphite Steinberger neck for this prototype although the final model will have a Wright neck. At this time the graphite necks will be for four string basses only. If we make a five or a six string, then they will begin as wood necks. Our bass will be priced quite a bit above the Sinsonido given the higher quality of parts we use and the labor involved in building hand made American instruments.
Moses graphite does have the ability to make a graphite replacement neck for the Sinsonido if anyone is interested.
I realize that Aria is near impossible to contact for questions regarding their instruments; therefore, I am happy to do my best to answer any questions you might have about the Sinsonidos. I might not have all the answers, but I'll try. Thank you to the gentlemen that have been in contact with me in recent days regarding the Sinsonido. I will keep you updated about the SoloEtte Bass as it nears completion.

The precise way they worded the question was needing the
"maximum length that the neck sticks into the heel pocket."

Could you provide those precise dimensions so that we could forward that to Moses and possibly have a graphite neck as a replacement option?

I gave Moses an older Sinsonido bass that we happen to have in the shop. I know that he measured the pocket on that instrument, but it's an older model. The best thing to do is to measure your bass and send him the dimensions. Since these are factory made instruments they are usually not exactly the same every time. I will contact Aria and find out what the standard measurements are, but I strongly suggest you measure your own too. I also work for Moses; therefore, I know he would like exact measurements to guarantee a good replacement neck.

One of the things we have to understand is that SoloEtte licensed their "collapsable guitar" concept (For lack of a better phrase) to Aria. (And Moses too, I think)
Aria, in turn, manufactures the Sinsonido bass (overeseas!) and exports them back to the States (and other places, of course.) This is important b/c the overseas manufacturing is why the Sinsonido is so inexpensive.
If/when SoloEtte makes a bass of their own, it will be made in the USA. More to the point, the price will NOT be anywhere near the $300 that the Sinsonidos cost. It will be significantly more.
That may be something that eveyone already knows but I just wanted to articulate it here for everyone to digest.

I won't be able to afford it - but I'm still expecting my Lotto ticket to be an eventual winner, leading to an immediate order. In advance of that, a modified Sinsonido with a graphite replacement neck could be compelling - and actually affordable.

The pickups on the prototype new bass look to be in a P/J configuration. I can't see the bridge well enough to know whether there will also be the Soloette type pickup there, but I guess this is so. Now, the character of the Sinsonido sound comes from your unique pickups: is it the plan to build a bass which aims to provide a different range of tones?
