Ashdown RM-800 Head $350 ($700 everywhere else)

It sounds like the second reviewer did not get an RM800. I have one, love it btw (replaced my Mark Bass with it.), and what he's saying makes absolutely no sense at all. There are two inputs. There is a mute. There is a tuner in. Wonder what he received.

Maybe that person didn't get the EVO version?

This is the EVO....

It's kind of pathetic, actually. I called them last week to ask about it. The rep said they had just received 30 of them and had 14 backorders that would be filled within a week. I called them today, and was told they had just received 30 of them. When I pointed out they had said the same thing last week, she said the warehouse was slow. I do think we're watching the disintegration of MusiciansFriend.

Yeah I'm not sure what to think. I tend to believe the reps saying they see they received 30 and have x number of backorders to fill. I'm sure they just looked it up and that's what it says. Now if the 30 received are damaged or something, that could be another issue. But how could one rep look it up and see 30 received and another look it up and see the item is discontinued and they won't be receiving any more? I also don't understand why they don't just cancel my order if they're really never getting more.

In my opinion the number "30" has been the only thing that has been consistent in coming from them about this deal. They've always said, "We have 30" when they say they have them.

I just got a call from MusiciansFriend. The fellow said the warehouse had received 30 RM-800 units rather than the EVO ones. I asked him to just send me one of the non-EVO units. He's checking to see if he can do that. Is there a big difference between the two, other than the extra input on the EVO?

reviewer said it had one less front input, no mute switch, one less speaker output, no tuner output. he could be right or wrong.

My order was cancelled as well without any communication from MF at all, just an email from PayPal saying they refunded my money. We gave them a call and they told us they did actually have 30 that they could sell and we could get one for the $350 price. Now I have a tracking number for something.

My plan before this deal popped up was to get the RM500 for $500 so I figure even if I get a non-Evo, I’ve saved some money and should have a head that’s at least as capable as what I planned to get.

I’ll report on what’s in the box when it shows up.

Yeah, having followed this thread for the last month I was expecting to hear after a day or two that they didn’t have one after all but I have a tracking number and UPS has the package so I’m reasonably sure I’m getting something. I’m not at all confident it will be what I’m supposed to be getting but worst case it gives us even more reason to demand a comparable deal on something they actually have.

I just called it it sounds like the 30 they received are the non-EVO versions and that's why they're saying they're not sellable at this time. They wouldn't send me the 500W version as a replacement and as much as I tried to get them to just send me a non-EVO one, they refused. I may try back and get a different sales rep but I'm assuming if your order shipped, it will just be the non-EVO version of the 800W...which is still probably a damn good deal.

As predicted, I got the non-evo but while I’m annoyed on principle, it is still everything I hoped for and a great deal so I’m going to count my blessings and not complain. I feel really fortunate to have gotten something out of this and wish you all could have gotten one too.
