Asymmetrical necks… only MTD or Warmoth?

sure, I’d take anything before the Nashville move probably… but then I don’t think I’d be saving much money haha. And still of the Michael Tobias lineage too. As is the Modulus… is it just a pain to produce or something and he’s the main one who has bothered?

thanks too on the F Bass, didn’t know they did that. Still expensive but another beautiful maker.

I have a Nashville and an Arkansas Tobias Growler both cool instruments

Isn't the so called "modern C" neck profile from Fender asymmetric?

Also... Don't the Fender Ultra and Elite series have asymmetric necks and progressive profiles (where the profile changes as you move down the neck)?

I don't think they are asymmetric, but they do have compound radius on the fret board. Its been a while since I played an Ultra 5 though. It had a great neck.

That is right… Carvin. Never been able to play one…

Carvin rebranded to Kiesel right? Anyone have experience with those? They don’t have the Bass builder setup yet (guitar is)… can’t really tell if they have an asymmetrical… maybe should reach out

I have a Carvin BB75 and a BB75F. Both are easy to play especially for a wide neck. These basses have the same string spacing as most 4-strings. The necks are fairly thin in depth and thinner on the treble side.

Hi everyone,

so I routinely comb through asymmetrical neck posts and hadn’t seen one for awhile and haven’t ever posted myself on this.

are there more builders out there that do asymmetrical? Or is it really just MTD and Warmoth.

I have pretty small hands so the neck of my MTD Beast I’ve had for 20+ years is still a favorite and nothing else felt comfortable (even Geddy Lee Fender). So I bought the Kingston Z4 to give myself a more modern soap bar active electronics and also love the neck again (even more as this one isn’t glossed).

I know Warmoth does some too - never had chance to play… that may be another option for me too.

I love my MTDs but with the USA being out of my reach ($5k???) just always on lookout for something more in the $2-3k range that could be an option down the line.

thanks all!
All my Elricks have asymmetrical tapered necks. They're perfect.

Can’t speak to the neck question but I can say they respond to email and answer their phone during business hours. They will at least give you an answer quickly.

My 2012 Fender American Jazz V deluxe has an asymmetrical neck. I acquired it after a long, non-consensual hiatus from music, so I didn’t know a lot about it. I could feel the different neck profile right out of the case, felt like a backwards Bass Clef. Had a similar realization with my Precision of the same year. That one features a compound radius, it gets flatter towards the heel.

I owned one. FANTASTIC bass. absolutely amazing. However I didn't bond with the 19mm string spacing so sold it.

But it was ABSOLUTELY amazing, and the neck was the comfiest I've ever had, just too wide (String spacing wise) for what I'm used to.

They don't do them anymore.
:(

Might be why Bunny is at ESP now, or was.
I don't see his bass there either.
