Asymmetrical necks… only MTD or Warmoth?

The appeal of asymmetry in a neck profile is certainly not lost on me. Good luck on your search.

I have small hands and fingers like tuna cans, so wide neck profiles are uncomfortable for me. Caused me to slap J necks onto all my Ps, and has made playing fivers a real problem. But I just ordered a Ultra Jazz Bass V to see if that asymmetric/progressive neck is any more comfy than any of the previous ones I've tried. If not, I'll try an Elite, because I understand it is different than the Ultra. We'll see how it goes.

haha, ok fair enough! If gigs pick up in the coming year and my tax break is as good next year as this… Maybe I can afford the MTD USA I’ve been dreaming of…

Warmoth has some nice looking builds too for a variety of prices… anyone have experience with those? Audio clips and links desired if available.
i have a warmoth slim tapper jazz neck on a warmoth p/j body. i love warmoth necks.
since when does warmoth offer a asymmetrical neck? i just looked on their website and do not see options for that.

sure, I’d take anything before the Nashville move probably… but then I don’t think I’d be saving much money haha. And still of the Michael Tobias lineage too. As is the Modulus… is it just a pain to produce or something and he’s the main one who has bothered?

thanks too on the F Bass, didn’t know they did that. Still expensive but another beautiful maker.

Yeah it’s the Gecko profile, but I don’t think it is available in all neck types…screenshot from their website attached. If I recall discussions… it isn’t as tapered as MTD

I have a lot of experience with Warmoth builds - my fretted basses are now all 5 string Warmoth builds, with asymmetrical necks. I have ginormous hands, so I go for the wide nut option. For my hands, they’re great.

I could post a lot of links, but the sound of my bass after FOH and YouTube get done with it don’t really represent what my basses sound like. Also, if you wanted a bass like one of mine, well….none of them have “normal” circuits.

Nice, so highly recommended there… thanks everyone by the way - so informative and helpful as I build my wishlist haha.

It used to be an option for Carvin back in the day. You could get just about any bass with and asymetrical neck.
When you ordered from Carvin they gave a whole list of things that you could done.
I don't think there is such thing as a "stock" Carvin.
