Atkinson basses new website and model

Dans the man, I dont get why hes getting so much crap on here.

Keep on keepin on Dan! Im loving the new site, too!

I don't get it either... In an age of giant mega corps who would just as soon spit on you than return your phone call... We get a person that actually takes the time to communicate with people like a real person, and listen to people's requests about what they'd like to have. Then instead of appreciating it, some people basically just p**s all over him. I've seen this phenomena on other forums, surrounding other subjects as well. There's something about trying to discredit the little guys that some people seem to find great pleasure in doing. Baffling.

The options have been changing periodically, but I think the necks are usually glossy. Of course, you can probably get them sprayed thin.

As far as the OBP-2 goes, I agree that a bass cut is typically not that useful, unless maybe the sound guy at your next show likes to run DI pre-EQ and then turn the bass all the way up on his own EQ, like at my last show. I personally was thankful for the cut that night. I've heard complaints that the bass boost doesn't go high enough for some people, but I think they must all be nuts. That boost gets really really fat, and anybody who thinks they need even more are just fooling themselves.

Hey Dan, you're in fine company -- being harassed by Fender and random internet people for building great basses. You, Sadowsky, and a host of others. Looks like you've made it!

I was thinking on the headstock, what if you made a little nub that juts out of the end of the headstock (kind of like the G&L spike) that looks like a trademark symbol. Then get a trademark on your new headstock shape.

:bassist:

will you be making 6 strings eventually because a 6 string jazz bass is my dream bass!

If Dan doesn't ever make a six, you could always get a Steve Bailey sig 6 from Fender. A little pricey maybe, but such a cool bass. I am sure they'll put frets on it if you ask nice!:D

Also, you could get a LEJ 6, which are VERY impressive, and well priced for a hand-made bass with killer electronics.

the steve bailey bass and the low end basses are sweet but way to expensive, if fender made a 6 string standard j for about 800 id be into it, but dans philosophy behind his stuff floats my boat. i say kudos to dan and i stand behind him. ive asked around trying to have someone build me a 6er jazz and they all wanted way over 2000 for it. even if he could just build me the neck and body and routed and finished id assemble it and be happy with it
