ATK's on clearance at MF.

So I've been playing guitar for 53 years. Seriously. So I walked into GC the other day and grabbed a GSR200 and asked to plug it in. I start doing this riff from Larry Carlton's "Last Night" album. I'm not sure even who the bass player is but it's just a nice intro and it was the first thing that popped into my head.

So the sales geek comes over and says how long you been playing bass. I tell him 15 minutes. (Really I have doubled once or twice through the years but never seriously, and always with some big heavy sucker hangin' around my pencil neck.

Alright so now I'm stoked. I've been reading reviews here and I'm convinced I want an SR then I see this thread, get registered, and can finally post. The SR fits my every need size and weight wise. I really did get gypped in the body department and I'm old too.

How does the feel of this Bass compare with the SR800 for instance. I DON'T want a Fender P or J clone. I want something that I can hold all night long without hanging my head in a sling the next day. I have a body harness for my sax's do they make a body harness gizmo for bass?

Anyway first post. I think all these cheap ATKs are gone anyway

also-they can run on the heavy side. I cant quote actual weights but some people have said they can run 9-10 pounds easily.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't really need a new bass, but this is very very tempting. I've been telling myself to just pass up on this deal because I just bought 2 4's in the past 4 months and I just keep going back to my 6.

Thanks Ken. I'll have to bring the bathroom scale over to GC and make them cranky. Seems to me everything is getting heavier. My '57 reissue strat is WELL into the 6 pound range. And it's a '94. Thanks for the welcome. Seems like a fun place. The Mikro group are nuts. In a very pleasant way I must say.

one of my mid-nineties ATK weighs 11.4 lbs and my 07 ATK weighs 10.3lbs

I had not seen an update for my 300 Black 130 order so I called them this morning and they stated that mine was "in process" and would likely not ship until Monday instead of yesterday so that's a bit disappointing but I did get the agent to confirm that it was not listed either as back ordered nor discontinued or anything else that might jeopardize the order. I hope she was accurate.

If the 5 neck is comfy I will ditch the 4, if I can't used to the 5 neck I will have the 4 as a back up to my Fender. Win Win.

$259.00 for two ATK's? I thought my $225.00 deal on a 305 was good.

I'm honestly shocked at these deals. Retailers have to be taking a loss or they are getting compensation (rebates or other incentives) from Ibanez to clear them out. I'm sure this means one of two things. The ATK is being discontinued again or they are comming out with new ones and my GAS will start all over again.:scowl:

They are being discontinued,

The ATK must not have been selling at all. Either that, or somebody at MF stumbled on a pile of 2007 models they didn't know they had in that cavern they call a warehouse.
