According to the tracking information, my 305 went through Canada Customs in FIVE MINUTES this afternoon.

That's a personal best- with a bit of luck, I could be playing it by Monday night!

Been using mine at practice , digging it now that i know how to set my GK up for an ATK, i have had it set up for an ATK before but its been awhile. I got back and forth between it and my thunderbird both of which i love for different reasons.

Couple updates regarding my 305.

1. I've found a few frets that tend to buzz. I think the frets would benefit from being leveled and dressed.

2. I'm a little slow. I just realized you can only string through the bridge on this bass. I also noticed Ibanez installed tapered B-strings, so I think I'll stick with tapered B-strings in the future.

3. I still haven't been able to play this through my rig.

4. Installed Dunlop Straploks tonight. I tend to use a dab of wood glue when I install strap locks. I didn't get the first one in all the way, and, by the time I couldn't go any further, the glue was drying up, so I couldn't remove it. Before installing the second, I read the instructions. I noticed they recommend putting some bar soap or wax on the tip of the screws before installing. I also noticed I needed to drill the holes a little deeper before installing the strap locks with the provided screws. The second one is nice and snug. Fortunately, with a strap on the bass, the loose strap button tends to stay put. I really need to be more patient when I install strap locks in the future. :scowl:

ahh but wait! you can string through the bridge, as in through the body. OR through the bridge, as in just drop it down and place the ball end right through the hole. take a closer look. youll see little cutaways from the main holes where the strings go through. you can anchor the ball ends there. makes for fast string changes. its like a top loaded bridge. took me almost a year to figure it out too!

Check out this pic. Notice how the hole is thinner closer to the bridge saddles? You can use that slot to anchor the ball ends of the strings.

I guess what irks me is that there were so many people who missed this great opportunity, and would have loved to get their hands on an ATK. There were also a lot of people who bought several of the same/nearly the same instruments (which is fine, I can't tell anyone what to do with their money), only because it was a good deal.

I'm not complaining, I just feel for the people who missed the deal by a matter of hours, and now get to watch as they are resold for more money than originally.

I hear that ..I was beggin people to keep quiet..as I was one who actually wanted one..and I did get one..but it was reeeeeaaal close.

Gig test. Passed. It's a keeper. Did everything I wanted it to. Cut through. Got deep. Got trebly. Felt good. Everyone else liked the sound. Everyone else LOVED the look. I may need to throw a thumb rest on it though.

If you do put a thumb rest on your bass, post some pics. I'd like to consider this for my ATK but have never installed one. I'd like to see how it's done.

Depending on where I'm playing on the strings, I rest on either the B string or the pickup.

guys, i put one on my 700.

i highly recomend "automotive double-stick tape" to help locate a good location. I am still holding a chrome thumbrest on that ATK700 with the tape, not screws. It doesnt hurt the finish. I actually ground the screws off, and crazy glued the heads into the rest, so it looks screwed in.
The tape has a red film on both sides that you pull off, and is made by 3M. It was designed to hold molding on cars.

The Rickanez ATK4001 is starting to come together more.

I now have all of the components, and I am ready to completely remove the electronics. I think this is going to turn out great!

Need to probably rework the wiring, route for the pickups, and get the pickups rewound.
