ATK's on clearance at MF.

Resales are going to be higher to cover shipping costs, level of effort (trying to get the original discounts) plus pricing variables. I was not able to benefit from the deeper discounts so my cost was $199. Some had bought directly from MF at that price as well as were not able to get reductions (easily). My $130 order ended up getting canceled so I had to "dig around" on the Music123 site until I found one in their "Used" section and that area specifically states that they will not do a price match on those items so I am stuck with the higher costs.

I can always ship it back to MF (Ut was classified as "returnable" on the order page) or sell it. I have never sold a musical item on eBay but do know that if I did, I would have eBay costs + Paypal costs + Shipping + time to box it up and take it to UPS, etc.

If I was to offer my black 300 for sale, I would probably list it on eBay for $350 and offer it to guys here for around the $300 mark. If I couldn't get those $'s for it, it would not really be worth it to do anything other than to simply send it back to MF (personally). I am not currently planning on reselling but that gives you the logic of why you aren't seeing many offering to sell theirs for $200. I suspect that you would also follow a similar path should you decide to liquidate it, right?

So, I have an ATK 300, Stingray 4, and a Ray35. The ATK300 neck seems closer to the Ray35 to me rather than the Stingray 4....that is purely unscientific though :)

I increased the output of my ATK to more evenly match the output of my Yamaha BB3000MA, so I ended up turning the trim pot almost all the way. Note: I actually had to turn the trim pot counter-clockwise to increase the preamp output.

One of these weekends I need to dig in and tweak my setup and change these strings. This morning I was playing my 305 unplugged, and the janky tone I've been hearing was plenty present in the sound coming straight off the elixirs. I'm a full time pick player, so it's all about the character of the attack... something with these elixirs just sounds kinda gross. Anyone know what the gauge of these stock strings are? I have a feeling a set of D'addario nickels or maybe DR Sunbeams would take this bass to a much happier place.

Also, I've rarely encountered this, but the stock action was incredibly low... but perfectly even. Probably the way most folks would want it. Unfortunately, for pickstyle this means I have to play with a much lighter touch than I'd like to in order to avoid hitting the strings against the upper frets. In general I think I need to raise the action a bit, and probably drop the pickup a couple mm's. But since a couple of us have asked now, i'll repeat this question:

Anyone know the gauge of the stock strings?

The ATK300 transformation has begun!

I've taken off the bridge and I am getting ready to gut the electronics. ...and I've ordered the replacement bridge and wiring harness.

I need to get my vintage pickups rewound and a bit of routing work done....

So, be on the lookout in the Classifieds section if you want to make your ATK 300/5 an HH :)

They don't feel or sound like Nanowebs at all to me. I think that they are Polywebs (the type with heavier coating that were apparantly discontinued). If most of these basses were built in 2006-2008, it might make sense for them to have been strung up with Polywebs.

interesting... yeah, mine was built in december of 2007. the folks that are reporting "july(07) 2010" builds, i wonder if they might actually be october(10) 2007 instead. who knows.

if by chance these are nanowebs, looks like the 5'er string gauges are: .045 .065 .080 .100 .130

Yes, I had to do the same thing, turning it counter-clockwise to increase the output. I turned mine a little over halfway for now. I marked the original setting from factory before turning because the trim pot in mine was already about an 1/8 of a turn from the right to left.

What is your pickup height now, on the E and G sides, measuring from the top of the pickup, to the bottom of the string, with the strings depressed at the 22nd fret?

Just rock style music , not sure how to describe it , female singer , younger person aimed music.

I just think i need time to tweak my set up, i play 2 410 GK cabs with a GK800RB bass head currently.

I'd like to find out what year mine was built. What number/s identify the year and month on the back of the headstock? I tried a search online to find the year it was built but had no success.

Thats cool , you could essentially cut down the bridge by alot if someone wanted to or get another bridge. I would consider that if i was doing a refin.

Those wanting to lighten it , it appears you could hollow under the bridge and guard. Mine is actually not to heavy.

Your rick mod will be sweet.

Thanks to whomever posted the pic with the bridge removed (maybe it was you). I've been wondering what's under there, but too busy to do anything about it. I see that in addition to the possibility of swapping for a different bridge, there is potential to rout out a bit of weight for those so inclined.

Edit: I see someone beat me to it.
