Hey bud, I haven't been keeping up with the HX thread since I sold mine, but the prospect of getting full helix functionality has me interested. Do you know anything more, or is it just a tentative "maybe"?

Oh no, don't get me wrong, they've made it very clear they will not be adding the amp/cab sims to the HX any time in the foreseeable future. But they did actually use that term, "yet", in a Line 6 thread I perused yesterday. So you never know. But I'm not holing my breathe. I am patiently awaiting the new 2.80 update. They are adding the BDDI and the Moogerfooger MuRF!! Along with some other things.

Agreed. Still, even if it only came with 2 or 3 really high quality models, that's still a win for us. On one of the FB pages someone asked if this was going to be priced similarly to the guitar version, their reply was, and I quote, "y". LOL! I can only guess this might refer to "yes". So this thing might come in around $300?! If that's the price point and it only comes with a couple of really solid models, I think I'd be ok with that. It's DEFINITELY gonna come with the Studio Devil VBA and an SVT model.

As I'm typing and thinking, If there's enough tone shaping available, would I really need more than a high quality tube amp model, a high quality hybrid amp model, and a high quality solid state amp model?

The ones you mention would be awesome to have, I'd only add some kind of Mesa:).
Really I'd probably be fine with any combination of at least three different brands of amps
for some variety.

I was really diggin' the look, straight ahead, no muss no fuss, and all business.

I agree with all of this ^!. I'm actually using just the preamp on my bass (sometimes with
some HX effects of course:) into cab IR's and they're working killer for me.
But still would like to try some nice amp models.

Just saw the Anderton's NAMM vid. It was a mixed bag of good and hmm.

The good: I may have misinterpreted what was being said, but it sounds like there's gonna be a few models available to use. It also sounded like the hardware is done, but they're still tweaking the software editor. So, that sounds promising.

The Hmm: Marc kinda made it sound like it's a preamp that happens to have modeling rather than a modeler that has preamp functionality. Not sure about that. They also said April/May time frame, which is probably NAMMspeak for June/July...

Overall, I'm still super excited about this. I just hope the info continues to flow.

I'm interested in the sequencing of all of the different components, and assume that they'll be in static locations. That being the assumption, the ordering will play a big role in ultimately how those components are used.

We have Comp/Lim, Boost/Drive, EQ, and Amp Model/Cabinet IR (still looking to clarify if this is either/or amp model OR cab IR - both or only one or the other).

I like my Boost/Drive before my comp, and EQ could be either pre or post comp - or even post amp modeling- but ideally the comp would have a wet/dry blend (I hope Atomic takes this key feature into account, too).

Yup. I'm hoping the info train picks up steam. I'm with you on all that, and I'm just guessing that it'll drive a power amp...so many questions.
