The apparent success of the Tall version of the Changeling 112 suggests a Tall version of the Changeling 115 might make sense. As if the waters weren't muddy enough already, right?
Curious as to what the spec on one of the bad boys might look like!

Chef, I’ve been using the TC115 AF wide (rear tweeter) for a long time now, as well as a TC112. The 115’s way bigger in all respects - handles the outdoor gigs with ease. Drummers love it. I haven’t tried the newer AK offerings - haven’t felt the need. I’m sure others can chime in.Al; yessir; drummers like this cab and have commented that sound coming out the rear makes it easier for them to hear.
Duke: 115 version? How fast can you send me one...to compare to the 112 at all?

...and for anyone who has heard your cabs Duke, why is this not a big surprise? I'm not the world's most patient person, but will say that your cabs are absolutely worth the wait. The backlog situation is not good. I've gotten a lot of orders in the past few weeks.
In waiting mode myself, but no problem. I know what I wanted and well, these things take time!...and for anyone who has heard your cabs Duke, why is this not a big surprise? I'm not the world's most patient person, but will say that your cabs are absolutely worth the wait.![]()
No Changeling for me, Strost. Even though it sounds great. Going with the TC 112 AF as my first AK cab. Was hoping to only need one cab and the TC seemed the logical choice. Still thinking of the Subway as a head. (thank you for your input on that one too). When the TC arrives, is when I might acquire the Mesa.Good to see others loving the Changeling here. With travel and holidays, I’ve only been able to play my C115 with the band once. And I spent a lot of that time turning knobs and flipping switches and unplugging ports. It sounded great any way I set it but I was mostly in all switch down territory (except I had the rear 3s on full).
But since then I’ve had it at home and have had time to really get to know it. And mostly I now like all switches up. It just sounds more interesting. The only exception to this is when I want to slap my jazz bass. It sounds better with he the low mid switch down imo (though slap on my Stingray loves the mid switch up). I prefer all ports open or one closed (though the differences here are pretty subtle).
Though my G&L JB is still my #1, my Stingray HH just kills through this cab and amp. Doesn’t sound as harsh as it did sometimes through my GK. It might get a promotion.
Compared to my GK MB210, this rig is much more focused. I don’t think the bottom end is as big but the mids really drive the sound. I can play faster and not lose clarity. The GK was great for holding notes and Broken Bells-like basslines. This is better for rock an slap and fast finger style. Each note stands on its own without bleeding over into the next.
And as for volume. Sheesh. I ran the input at noon and master at around 11 with the band and I might have been too loud (if there was such a thing as “too loud” bass). I pushed them both to noon at home and was afraid I would break the house.
It’s tough to know what is the cab and what is the amp (Subway 800+) since they are both new to me. I wish I could hear each in a different rig. But these seem to work very well together! With then low mid switch up on the cab, that deep switch on the D800+ works perfectly for getting some more girth without fiddling with knobs.
First gig with this in late January (we are not the hardest working band in the world). I’ll report back.
Happy to answer questions since I know this is a pretty new product.
Also thanks again to Duke for turning me on to this and working to get one to me quickly. Sounds like I beat the rush!

You're quite right! That would be nice comparison. The Changelings are so new, I haven't seen any local guys using one so I could check it out. Heck, I had to drive 35 miles to check out a TC.I’d love to try a TC to hear the difference. I’m sure it’s 2 flavors of awesome.
...The Changeling 115 (and Hathor 15xx and current generation Thunderchild 115) use a different woofer from the one in your cab. Your 15" woofer has a bigger bottom end, whereas the new woofer has more upper-mid growly and higher efficiency.
i'm jonesing hard for a changeling 15 or a 1533...or ...or...
although frankly, there is nothing my little H1203 x 2 stack cannot handle.
It will come as no surprise that I have suffered from an acute case of GAS for quite some time, now. But I have to say, my pair of 1203's has seriously cut into my inherent cab GAS. Those cabs amaze me literally every time I play through them! That being said, I have a Changeling 112T to get to know better...![]()
