AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

It translates to “this dispenser contains both clean, sanitary toweling and used toweling contaminated with hand jazz.”
You don’t often see phrases that are more succinct in French but this is one of those times.
Well, it's not a French word (maybe it's Creole? I don't know). From what I've been told by folks who know more about the history of the bar, it means "bal pour tous" (it kind of makes sense to French speakers once they're told that), which could loosely translate into "Dance for all". This bar has strong ties to the African community and the world music scene here.

I heard a rattle on Bb on my Changeling when I turn up a little bit. I listened to the back port and it sounded like it was coming from in there. I took it apart (see cool pics) and when I shake the speaker I hear a rattle. Any ideas? The speaker doesn't look like it untwists to get the voice coil. Thanks

The screw down wire terminals will rattle when they are not screwed down (as in when there is no wire connected to them). Make sure that's not what you're hearing.
Yes. It was the loose screws were rattling, and with them tighten down it is quiet when shaken. So it must be something else.
I don't have another 12 inch speaker to try in the cab to see it if it the speaker or something else. Once I had a similar problem with another cab of another maker, and put in another speaker and it still sounded distort, and it turned out to be the cross over.
Probably time to ask @DukeLeJeune to see what he thinks.
I'd probably put it all back together and see how it sounds, maybe it was a loose screw or something. You never know. Leave the grill off to make sure that's not it. Did it distort all the time or just on certain notes?
It hated Bb on the E string, and funny not quite as bad on that note on the A string. Tried multiple basses, and always around Bb although sometimes on other basses it moved around a little.

I've read the descriptions, and searched this thread, but can't seem to find a good description of the differences between the Thunderchild 115, Hathor 1505, and Hathor 1533, other than the horn versus single 5" tweeter versus 2x3" tweeters. Is that the only difference? Why is the Thunderchild priced $150 more, is the horn more expensive?
I am interested in a full-range uncolored cabinet, modular so that I can take one cab to smaller gigs, and two for larger outdoor gigs, and lightweight. I play both 4- and 5-string basses.
I've had good luck in the past with:
Ampeg SVT810E (won't fit in my car, which is a deal-killer, adn not very flat response esp in higher frequencies)
Hartke 410XL and 115XL (not very portable, too heavy, seems to be too much high end/edgy)
2x Baer 112 (portable and modular, but not as uncolored as I'd like, maybe a mid bump?, can handle 800W)
Bergantino HD410 (not very portable, too heavy [88 lbs!], but can handle 800W)
Accugroove Tri-108 (portable and modular, sounds great, very flat, but only handles 200W)
Barefaced Two10 (portable and modular, too dark, not as uncolored as I'd like)
I would appreciate recommendations from the folks here experienced with Audiokinesis 15" cabs and any of the above cabinets for comparison. I am open to 12" or 10" cabs as well, but in playing 10s, 12s, and 15s I've been happiest with 15s, especially in combination with smaller speakers.

I havent played the 15s, but in general I think the thunderchilds have less color. I have a Thunderchild 12 and a Hathor 1203. The Hathor is definitely has a more aggressive mid range id say.
maybe the compression driver/horn is the difference? maybe crossover that accommodates the horn?
Full range...uncolored....yes you want the Thunderchild. The horn and implementation definitely cost more.

Most of the additional cost is in the crossover components and crossover board build time. Also the compression driver I use in the Thunderchild 115 and 212, and which I'm using in the new Version 4 of the Thunderchild 112, is a fairly expensive neodymium-magnet unit with a polymer diaphragm. I think it's pretty good; I've used it in custom studio main monitors.
My Thunderchild cabs are better suited for that than my other cabs.
