so whats the basic difference in sound between the TC 112 and the Hathor 1203. sometimes i feel the tc 112 goes too deep, even with the ports in and i use a ton of high pass filter but still dont really get the definition i want. is the hathor what i want? (i play upright bass)
The Hathor 1203 is an exercise in compatification. It's wrapping the smallest cab I can around a really good 12" uberwoofer, and just barely delivering that first overtone of low-B (at about -3 dB).
If what you want is superb definition in the lows, contact Mike Arnopol. His Big E cabs, with their Manipulated Vortex Waveguide enclosure, deliver the best low-end articulation in the business, to the best of my knowledge. This is one of the reasons why I'm focusing on these compact-but-loud cabs: His technology doesn't compactificate as readily, so that's an area of the high-end bass cab market where I think the window of opportunity is still open.
