As there's no info on Duke's site (Thunderchild 118 Currently under revision), is that an 18 and a 1.4 with what looks like to me anyway, an 18Sound XT1464?

It uses the Faital 18FH500 woofer, not sure on the compression driver but I think maybe B&C, and what looks to be about a 1/4” fiberglass layup waveguide similar to or actually a SEOS or Denovo piece. I have a pair of similar looking XT 1086 cast aluminum horns loaded with BMS 4452ND that are pretty nice, but Duke’s implementation of whatever’s in the TC118 is easily a step or two above that. If it is in fact a 1.4” comp driver that may explain some of that, I guess.

Eventually I’ll have to pull the back tweeter to see what’s up there, looks like a Dayton 8” circular horn and ??? compression driver with a metal diaphragm.

Thanks Charlie for the detail. I have a bunch of XT1086 and from the pic the horn looked bigger and very 18S so I just assumed it was a 1.4 and the 1464.
I've done a lot of speaker designing, mainly for hifi/monitors and was just wondering what others use especially as the AK cabs are not something I've ever seen in the flesh yet they get consistently good reviews. I'm not looking to clone, just get some ideas on what works well beyond the typical multiples of the same driver and usually an poor/average HF driver implementation. I also have a quad of 18FH510 on hand, so basically the ceramic version with very similar specs for another project and wondered how they might be vs my old JBL/RCF/B&C drivers. Perhaps some test cabs are in order.
The eventual plan is to make a semi-modular rig that could cover everything I could ever see me needing in future.

Home Depot or Lowe's. I've seen some more uptown versions at my local Ace Hardware recently too. Most of the ones I see are Test Tite brand.

looked a few more places and found the ones that duke sent me with the cab, which is why folks will now see my changeling 112 tall in the classifieds now. local l.a. pick up.

reason i'm selling is i have 2x tc112v1 and 2x hathor 112v1. i figured i didn't need to have five cabs these days.

That's straight up Duke's logo, I just lifted it from one of his web pages. I think a laser etched wooden one might be way cool, for starters. I've been messing with amp faceplates done that way lately and there are a bunch of cool options with that technology.

Wonder what that logo would look like in gold tone …

Glad to hear that the Duke is still extant.

As to running behind, I hope that you're able to realize progress, however incremental, and appreciate your stance re. not taking orders until you feel ready.

Back several thousand posts ago there was talk of, or a design for, an "AK" logo. It was small and unobtrusive and could be placed out of the way in a corner of the cab. I always thought that was kinda cool.

Hey, just wanted to follow up on that tangent. This week I talked with Spencer Davis at Amplifyfun and we're going to take a stab or three at this. For 7 bucks he can do a UV print on an adhesive backed faux brushed metal plastic plate, or any number of other finishes. Not sure how small he can conveniently go, but ideally I'd like something no more than two inches long. I had to start from scratch on the logo design to get it into vectored art form, I'm thinking something along these lines:

He can also do a laser etch on wood, plastic, or metal, CNC cut metal, etc. He's done a great job on a bunch of pedals for me over the last few months, FWIW.

Yesterday I tried some test prints on my home inkjet appliance and have settled on a 1.6" x 1" badge format for my first prototypes. Waiting to hear back on material options, but I'm now envisioning something roughly like this:
