AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Duke, can you tell me if it’s cool to lay a Hathor 1505 on its side?
Cheers

Bass players are unavoidably cool whether they realize it or not. Pretty much anything you do is cool by definition. Look out at the audience and notice how the ladies move to your groove. If that ain't cool then nothing is. If laying a cab on its side wasn't cool before you did it, it becomes cool the moment you do. I'm almost vicariously cool just by long-distance association with you guys.

So, yeah, it's cool.

But that's not what he said, is it? it's anybody's guess whether we'll ever see AK bass cabs again, and if so will Duke still own the business?

I can't imagine anyone in their right mind wanting to replicate my obscure and labor-intensive bass cab designs.

This is what he said, "I'm not taking new orders now but I'm still in the game." I admittedly chose to interpret that in an optimistic way, but knowing Duke I assumed that if he were going to exit the business he would have told us outright.

There is a cab design I really want to do but I need to get caught up on orders (or nearly so) before I would feel right about introducing a new product.

An even more fantastic reply than I expected!! Thank you for your endless coolness!

Note to self: Duke is jazzed about a new cab design. Start saving now!

Having peeked inside my Changeling (yeah, I tried putting one of the orange port plug stoppers in without first inserting the rubber gasket and had to remove the 12" driver to fish it out.....), I can attest that there is a LOT going on inside one of those.

Thanks for all you do Duke!!

a new product
Is it a 22.5” rotating driver inside an 18” high cabinet that has a footprint of 12” that also has a talent dispenser (switchable, of course) and another switch for world peace and weighs 22 lbs?

Because, if it is, put me down for a pair.:smug:

Silly man.

Having a pair of those would be like wasting a wish on asking the genie for another everlasting beer stein!

@DukeLeJeune

I’d really like to add to your backlog please!

Hey everyone. I’m selling my thunderchild 112 if anyone wants it. I’m a paying member so not cheating tb or anything. Just listing it here first. It’s in excellent near mint shape with a cover I got for it years ago from lecover. It is the og thunderchild with switchable tweeter. I’ve loved it so much and hate to let it go but that’s how it is sometimes when the economics come calling. Simple the best cab for upright bass ever imho but also amazing for electric for my tastes. I’m thinking $800 and will
Ship insured usps conus and will add the cost of that. send me a message :)
