I've got pretty much experience with the TC112 and 212, having built some TC212's and owning the 112. While I love the 112 and think that Duke knocked it out of the park on that one, the 212 was more impressive to me than just saying it was a louder 112. With the stacked woofers you get a little more bass extension, a lot more bass authority and the ability to hear the low mids through the mid-mids with more clarity due to the second woofer being elevated. When you couple two woofers like that the net effect is greater than just the one woofer x 2. I don't think this speaker is at all boomy. It is punchy.
Next, the horn is closer to ear level so the mids through the highs are more present in your playing position. Also---I still don't get it how Duke accomplished this---but the horn driver on the 112 is ok but Duke gets it to sound great. The driver on the 212 is much better. The quality of the highs on the 212 is not as good as a great PA speaker---it's better. It's up there with the top $$$ home hifi speakers.

Ok--I'm done shooting my speaker sales in the foot!

Can't do that, but can say that I played another outdoor jazz trio hit with a single cab and zero problems. Plus I was running bass and keys at the same time (looper pedal on the bass)

Thank you, Marial!

As Charlie mentioned, the soft threaded rubber piece is part of the plug assembly - go ahead and remove it along with the orange plastic piece when you want the port open.

The 1855 is growlier in growly mode and goes deeper, trading off a bit of efficiency along the way. The 1855 is borderline "low-F# capable", in that it's about -3.5 dB at the 46 Hz first overtone.

The pair of 1203s are more efficient, and of course more flexible and portable.

While there is of course a family resemblance, fwiw the 1855 is probably my closest approach to "the sound in my head", in growly mode.

I couldn't agree more with Mike on the 212. It is by far the best cab I've ever owned. Between the overall sound, the weight being under 40 pounds due to the lightweight composite material and the footprint there isn't a gig big or small that I don't take it. Plus it looks real good too. Thanks Duke and Mike.

This thing is nothing less than a work of art. Holy cow, what a beaut! The state of the art in bass cabinetry has simply evolved light years beyond where it was when the first generation of Sunn/Acoustic/SVT monster rigs roamed the earth.

I own a TC112 v1 that I use with a GK MB500 amp head. I just can't believe how much warm, deep, round, clean bass power I can get out of that little micro rig. It just blows my mind.

For those of you wondering about the TC112 and its ability to reproduce mids (I have the 4ohm V1), here is a short clip I recorded live this past weekend. Conditions were… Outside gig, AT4033 mic (all I had at the time) about 6 feet away from speaker, Apogee One interface into an ipad to record. Obviously not an optimal recording setup and better results would be produced with a better mic, recording gear, better environment, etc. But despite all these conditions, you can still hear the mids clearly sing through. If I had the mic elevated more (it was on a table top mic stand on the floor), I would have probably captured more of the tweet to give it some brightness (recording is a bit dull). I was using my Nordy VPJ5 (P pickups backed off a smidgen, J full on), Tone control rolled off about 50%, Read Purity Tube Pre with the eq bypassed, and the Crest Prolite 2.0 as my power amp. So really no eq here other than the tone control on the Nordy.

I know some people here have stated the TC112 is polite in the mids, but I tend to agree with others that it is just a flat response speaker. What you put into this speaker, is what you get out of it, it doesn't color or take away from the sound at all. It truly represents the tone you are sending it. Perhaps I'm speaking for myself, but I feel many of us are so used to playing through cabs from other manufacturers that color your tone whereas the TC112 does not IMO, which is why I think I will be changing strings a bit more frequently with this cab. My Nordy is a bit aggressive in the mids in a good way where it really sits in the mix well, and the TC112 reproduces the tone as if I were playing through my studio monitors. Truly an amazing one cab solution for most gigs, especially outdoors.

Duke, question: For the TC112AF, do you have a different grill that I could replace my "bug eye" grill with?

I love the cab, but the bug eye grill always bothered me a little bit. I thought I remember an alternative mentioned at some point, but don't remember exactly.
