Audition Red Flag Time Again

I casually walked out unnoticed. In my experience, when you have Nirvana, Van Halen, Pantera, and Lady GaGa, it's usually a sign that you have guys who really want to play their choice of genre, but are settling because they can't really find a band. Sometimes they're nice people, but that sort of tug in all sorts of directions generally doesn't translate to anything useful.
I agree. I'm more than willing to learn a complete set if and only if I get the slot AND they're good. I've learned this one the hard way. Once, no matter what I did, the gig was promised to someone else. The other, the band REALLY sucked. In both cases, total waste of my time.
The general happiness and ease of the band as a whole is a big deal.
If only one band member seems to communicate freely during the rehearsal take note, it hints of a control freak at the helm.

People who show up onstage and look disinterested, bored, and not wanting to be there. Showing no passion for the music. They're so bored they just throw their sunglasses on their head real quick. You can tell they want to be somewhere else. Kinda like this.

My point was....
Look like you're into the music and loving it. That pic looks like you don't care about your band, the music, or the gig. I don't play wiht musicians who aren't passionate.

I am also serious about performance. That expression is a 1 second snap shot and there was some sort of monitor issue I was concerned about.
Ty, there's no right or wrong here. However I came into playing bass in rock bands way before you were born. What does that mean?
Absolutely nothing only that due to the generation difference we will never agree on much.
If their equipment is trashed and not in good working order, I'll bolt. My last band lasted for 6 months because nobody wanted to get stuff that was reliable. We started to get gigs, but I was the one spending all the money. After complaining that maybe we should get lights, the guitarist said OK, I'll get some lights for the gig on the xx of the month and showed up with a $40 refurb light bar that he sat on the floor. I let after that gig. Meanwhile, I bought a 16 channel mixer, 2 power amps, a monitor, an effects unit, and a dual EQ. That was it. I spent all my money made from gigs on the band with no reciprocation. They went acoustic after I left. They have two Behringer speakers, a Fender 6 channel amp/head with all the eq sliders snapped off, and no monitors. Good for them.

when setting up a audition one of them says "oh and by the way, can you bring a guitar for our guitar player to use?"
that one bugs me. so what your saying is i have to carry a bass and a guitar because your guitar player cant be bothered AND/OR doesnt have one?
