I’m not missing any point. My advice to the guy who wants to add a cab to his COMBO, which he “loves”, would be perfectly matched to another Carvin, who also makes the combo. It’s simply a better match, it’s not wasteful and all the “XMAX” of the super-woofer is not needed in this case.

I believe he head alone through the Avatar 15 3-way at 4 Ohms will be at least as loud and likely deeper than the 2 Carvin 15s. I'd rather not carry both Carvin 15s if I could haul 1 Avatar. The only thing that would convince me otherwise would be a lack of the 100 bucks to make up the difference.

Ken, I can't believe I beat you to the punch on this one!
I am incredibly used to my Genz Benz NeoX 212T (which I have gigged with 5-6 nights a week for the last year) , so it will take me more gigs and more tweaking to comprise a final assesment of this cab (demo-itis if you will), but my first impression was favorable. The song in the video is well suited to demonstrate the crossovers capabilities as this tune covers 3 octaves. I still did not have it dialed exactly how I want it as that will take more time, but for an inexpensive no frills semi lightweight 15 inch 3 way, I would say it is a TREMENDOUS value for the money. I did have to turn up my master volume about 1/3 more than with my GB NeoX 212T to produce the same level of volume output; perhaps some of the engineering afficianados could chime in on that? I will be using it in small room gigs where I don't run thru a PA in order to take advantage of the little bit of extra bottom a 15' can provide. I will offer a more detailed analysis after I have spent more time with her in 'real world situations.' that said, I am more than happy to answer any questions you guys have

The mic is part of that, It was more 'booming' in the flesh for sure, but that is also partially because i favor the 'thinner' bridge pup on that particular song. The bridge Pup on that Jazz is really growly and mid range heavy...very vintage IMO.

That's beyond silly. You can put your lone speaker onstage (hanging from a string) and see how it sounds compared to my two Carvin cabs stacked with a BX500 on top.
But I build my own cabs and I'd end up with a 4 ohm fEarful. I'd be happy to use my Carvin BX1200 bridged and blow the Carvin cabs into little pieces.

Wow, I remember playing that song when it came out. I used to pop and slap the line at that time, because it was that octave style that was popular back then. Fun song and nice playing. Would you call that band a loud band? just trying to gauge how loud that cab can get.
I would call us a 'moderate' band on a tune like 'I Will Survive'. My master volume was set a notch or 2 over 25% (10 o'clock), and my preamp gain and volume were a little over half way up (1 o'clock). I can't honestly report on how loud it CAN get because I have not neede to push it that hard, however, I played it WAY louder than I will ever need to at my home yesterday. Plenty of juice to go around with my 600 Watt head into 4 ohms.
