That will be interesting! I am running a 600 watt head into it, but if your LDS cab is an 8ohm cab, you should certainly be getting more oomph out of the 4ohm Avatar. My cab is starting to feel a bit more 'broken in' and sounding and feeling even better. I am excited for more reviews!

I'm fine with the M6 into my 15-6 but am fully aware it could bloom with more electron flow. I love the sound of the wa through it but it's simply not loud enough for our band at gig volume unless I crank the gain past it's sweet spot (for me).

Man, I'm close to biting the bullet on one of these, but I think I'll wait for further review.

The only thing that puts me off a little is the weight. 60 pounds isn't too crazy for a 1 cab solution, but its enough to make me complain about stairs, hauling it a couple blocks, maybe having to get casters, etc.

Capn, I bought one of those little fold up dollys to haul mine. It has worked great so far. I decided against casters because I am concerned about loss of low end response which is the reason I wanted a 15' driver in the first place.

I have one of the foldup handtrucks by magnacart. it was $12 at sam's club and is rated for 130lbs.
it hauls my ul410 and m9 easily..

removable casters would solve the coupling issue...

Caster won't make a lick of difference in low end output. You'd have to raise the cab off the floor so high to lose the low end that it's really a moot point.

The perception that low end is lost is sometimes related to hollow stages where a cab directly on the stage floor vibrates from the lows giving the impression there is more there than really exists, coupled with the fact that the higher a cab is (or if it is tilted back too), the more likely the mids will be noticed, giving one the impression there is less low end, when really it's still all there.

From what I recall, the compression driver that was in my old SB112 was junky chinese stuff.
The website says this is a 1" Foster compression driver, which is, I believe, what swr and eden use, and is ok enough.

I raise my 15-6 on a stand so it's base it 18" off the ground. No shortage of low end that I can detect, nor have I had any comments to suggest it from audience members who run sound, or our "PA-soundtech-rhythm guitarist-lead singer" who does the check and calibration of our PA while playing wireless.

Wow. I have already heard back from Dave and the cab goes out today!!!! It may be made of heavy wood and be suboptimal in other ways compared to a true fEarful on paper, but I'll test my own suspicion that in this case, perfect is the enemy of very very good, for 450!!

That was my main beef with my old avatar kappa 410. Well, that and the fact it was 100 pounds. I think that tweeter was still a foster, but I called avatar about it, and they said the 15/6 has a different horn that is cut only.

I think Greenboy had mentioned in the past that the tuning frequency of a box with shelf ports on bottom, changes slightly between being directly on the floor as opposed to raised up or tilted back. Probably not enough change that any but the most discriminating ears could notice, if they were trying.

The ears of the audiences I play for are too busy trying to discriminate whether the price of a shot exceeds the contents of their wallets to discern the finer points of bass frequency dispersion:D, and my chops are mediocre on a good day:bassist:. A single smallish cab that may allow my Walkabout to fill a small bar, and my Carbine to fill a large one, independent of PA support, are worth a gamble of 450.

Even still, damn, I want one.

But I gotta wait till I'm in a band again before any new bass gear... So I'll miss out on the great deal, but I wont buy anything I don't actually need(!). Anyway, probably will just build a true fEarful though anyway. Don't need no bleepin tweeter and sounds more fun. Plus I can have a blond finished wood cabinet with round speaker grills. Too cool.
