Here is another vid Showcasing the new Avatar TB153 bass cab: The bridge pup and neck pup are in equal balance showcasing a little 'fatter' sound. I know that the EQ setting are also different than in the first vid, but cannot recall the specifics. Fender CS Jazz bass thru Genz Benz Shuttlemax 6.0 + a Few Scotch on the Rocks by this point!!

Color me impressed. There's a bit of distortion on the flip cam, but through my K240s I can hear a fair amount of detail. I'll bet that sounded great in the room! Nice tunes and I enjoyed the playing as well.

It would be great to get some video clips of this cab from a rock player as in many ways that is a very different application. Based on my limited experience thus far, I think this cab could kill for Rock and Blues as well as Funk and Soul.

Yes...and from the band. The d it because he could 'feel it' more and our singer/soundman liked the way it filled up the bottom. It is capable of reaching lower frequency levels than my 2x12 while still projecting clarity in the mids and highs. I will use this cab for specific applications, ie, any time I am not running thru the PA and need a cab that really fills the room. I will very likely continue to use the Genz Benz 2x12 for any other gig as it is a heck of a little cab. That said, at half the cost of my GB cab, the Avatar is a no brainer and sounds phenomenal live and in person.

I'm glad to hear that this cab is doing the trick live. The 3-way design allows you to feel it as well as hear it- that's a beautiful thing. Note of thanks to Dave at Avatar for bringing this to market at this pricepoint he did, and best of luck.

Caved and ordered today. The weight is more than I'd like but the 4 Ohm thang has my Walkabout looking at me like a forlorn child wanting me to buy that puppy in the window to play with (my M6 is grinning, too). It will be interesting to compare this to my LDS 15-6.

FWIW it'll be a deathmatch between my 8 Ohm LDS and this, the loser to end up in the TB classifieds. Battle of the nEarfuls...


I have 2 relatively low wattage heads I love that are crying out for this, at least on paper, a Walkabout and Shuttle 3, both long on tone and short on balls....

I know people say otherwise, but it's been my experience that the 3015LF wants a lot of juice to really make it feel right, for me.
I liked the walkabout with a 3015 loaded cab, and even at 8 ohms it was ok-ish.
The 3015LF 15/6 I had really didn't feel like it was working well for me even with the M6, and liked 1200 watts of bridged wt800b better.

I can't really see the walkabout working well with this, but i'd like it if it did.

I got the impression from post #390 that the Avatar may be a bit power hungry.
