Yeah, I'm still surprised they weren't gone when I went to pick them up. He had them on Craigslist for about 2 weeks at that price!

He did gig with them quite a bit, so the Tolex is scuffed in a few places and has a couple small tears, but nothing major at all. And, of course, the cabs sound great - that's what really matters. I have considered getting a line-x coating applied at some point, but that will be a while before I look into it.

Hopefully I'll be playing with them this weekend and I'll let ya know how it went! :D

Is anyone running a Markbass F1 thru a pair of 1x12's?

I just picked up an F1 using my 2x10 Bag End (400w @ 4 ohms) but it lacks serious bottom end. I'm wondering if a single 12 or pair would give me a nice big, fat round bass sound and easy portability.

Yes. Sounds really good. If you run both cabinets at 8 ohms, though, be aware that each of the speakers in the 210 are getting twice the power as each of the speakers in the 410.

You could run an 8 ohm 210 with a 4 ohm 410 and then all of the speakers would get the same amp power - but the total impedance would then be 2.67 ohms and not appropriate for many amps.

I ran into this issue and had to buy a 2 channel power amp and pre-amp. Worked great with a 2x10 (4 ohm) and 1x18 (8 ohm). Serious tone and bottom end.

Guys, something interesting I saw the other day: I had the tweet at about 50% and the amp sounded really bad, thin, no good low end. I then proceeded to reduce the tweet to close to 0% and the amp sounded really good, really fat.

I looked inside and the module is a new module as shown on the Avatar Web site.

What could be the explanation?

my 210 is 8ohm and i would have to add a 8ohm 410, i know the 210 would get more power but with my GK700 rbii i'm in no danger of over powering it. so would the 210 getting more power or 410 with more surface area be louder, and with all the same driver would i even notice it much.. wouldn,t you have that issue even with 210+212 to a lesser degree? this seems like it would be about the ultimate setup in flexibility but i don,t want any adverse volume mismatch if it will affect the tone. thanks for any info

Good question, and I don't have the answer. As you seem to imply, it may not really matter. If you like the way the rig sounds, who cares.

And, yes - the same thing would happen with a 210/212 setup; the 12s would get less power per square inch of cone than the 10s. I ran that setup for a while as well, and it really sounded fine.

i know where i can try my 210 with a tvx 410 but its not as an efficient a cab as the av 410 so don't know if that will answer my question or not. i had been running it with a 115 but after the light show i saw through the 115 vent port the last gig not sure i want to plug it back in.lol

Thanks for the post! That's exactly the answer I was looking for when I posted earlier. I figured the power thing would be a little wonky.

Thought about getting an 8ohm 4x10 to leave at the drummer's place for practices that I could also mix 'n match with my other two Avatars... Now I'll probably just get the 4ohm version. :)

I think 212's would sound great! I really think I'll probably use this set-up with the 212 on top. I just like the 212 mid sound in my ear more than the 410. I like the 410 mid tones on the floor away from ear and I can still well hear and feel it's enormous edge. Since I am not sure how much I'll use them together much, the gig would obviously need to be a large venue gig. I got this combination because I see myself using them more individually. I thought about 212's, but you can't go wrong either way with the Avatars.

I've already decided to get a 410 next spring. Have a 210 and a 212 now. That would probably mean the gig rig would be the 410 and 212 and the practice rig would be the 210, or whichever sounds best. Anyone know if Dave has some other bass cabs planned in the coming months?
