Avatar SB112 with MID !!!!!! The SB126

Newbie question... What's the advantage of having the mids together like that vs both at the top of each cab?
If they were spread farther apart, would they not disperse better? Or is it a "coupling effect" thing?

Keeping the drivers close together, and preferably in vertical alignment, minimizes interference problems, such as phase cancellation. It presents a clearer, more coherent signal that disperses more evenly.

I am really interested in these to pair with my new TH500, once I am able to offload some of my other gear. I am looking at the 12PR300s with the 2.5KHz crossover though. I know the box wasn't designed around these speakers so I am a little apprehensive about this setup.

I love these cabs... I've got the Delta LF ceramic with the 1k6 crossover. Gigged them about 5 times in fairly loud environments with an MB500 and P Bass. Opto Stomp comp and MXR 81 preamp for pedals. The surrounds on the LF's have loosened up nicely. The lows are meaty and focused. There is no hole in the mids. The GK's hi and low mid controls actually do something now with this mid loaded cab.

Vertical stack with the mirrored baffle cab on top just kills...

I can't see where one cab for "quieter" gigs would ever be a problem.

Cabs are well built and solid.

I'm not an expert in mixing cabs... so I can't comment on that. I've been running my cabs with the mid level about a quarter of the way up on each cab. I adjust the mids with both the MXR pre amp pedal and the mids on the amp.

The only thing I might say about your question of mixing the cabs is that if I were going to do it I would make sure the cabs had the same 12" driver... I would not mix those speakers. I would also look at the crossover points of each cab as a possible concern.

Have any of you SB126 owners ever used a Tech 21 VT Bass pedal, VT-RM, etc with this cab, or two of them?
I'm thinking of picking up (eventually) one of the new VT-500 amps, and was wondering how well one or two 8ohm SB126, (Delta ceramic/2.5 crossover) would mate with this amp.

(May Custom 4stg bass with Nordstrand Bigman pickup, tend to gravitate towards rock/metal/prog....)
