My 400RB-IV is the loudest 280 watt amp I've heard.... That amp and cab should make some serious noise....

Thanks! It sure is. The two Bag End 15s are insanely loud with it. He and his friends are gonna poop their pants! The vinyl cover for it is kinda thin. Probably replace it with a nylon one.
It'll get cranked. He'll definitely overpower his friends. Their dads aren't as cool as my son's dad.If you crank it...

I heard my son's new 4 ohm B2126 tonight, powered by the G-K 400RB-IV. Just at band practice. It gets really loud with that head barely turned up. I mean barely.
I had him play while I listened to the mid-cone and adjusted the attenuator on the back of the cab. It adds a very tolerable treble edge without that crispy, hissy sound the tweeters provide. He is very pleased with it. A BIG step up from the Ampeg BA-115 combo.

Yep, with the 1.6 kHz crossover... as the stock 3012LF doesn't extend well, IIRC. Would potentially make a nice hifi-sounding pairing (at least to ~6 kHz or so).
I don't understand Dave's logic about being worried about the 1.6 kHz crossover point pushing the sealed-back mid too hard. Think about it: the TB153 uses the same mid driver and an 800 Hz crossover point, with a much more efficient 3015LF driver. Have people reported blown mids in that cab?

Any more gig reports with these? I'm curious how a pair of them would sound. Has anybody compared these to the Baer 112?
If anybody is interested in a video of my trio PM me your email addy. The video is just a short 1:30 and you'll need to use headphones. I used the SB126 with a GK MB500 and a Am STD 2000 P Bass. Chain is Bass - Tuner - Multicomp - M81 EQ - Amp. Low volume gig. Video taken at end of night. Had a table of 18 right in front of us for 2 1/2 sets. Nice gig.
Well I for one can't wait to get my hands on a pair of these - with the Delta 12LF woofers. I've got a real gem of an amp head - an Eden Nemesis RS700 - that should make a superb pairing with these Avatars. Truly it's one of the best amps Eden ever made - 400 watts @ 8 ohms, 550 watts @ 4 ohms, and 700 watts @ 2 ohms - and has that classic deep, warm, smooth Eden tone. When compared with the ferrite Delta woofers and Dave's midrange speakers, the overall sonic effect should be like melted butter.

Interesting. I had a Fearless 15/6/1, but didn't really cozy up to it. I wonder if I just couldn't get used to the voicing of frequencies coming out of a 6" driver. I don't know what the crossover point was, but if done to my liking, I imagine the 6" driver in place of the tweeter would be a good thing.
My guess is that the comparison will be mostly in the middle midrange on up. The contrast will be mostly in the low mids and the low end.
I haven't heard either of these with my own two ears. But from everything I've gathered from others' experiences, the Baer is going to sound noticeably leaner, tighter, punchier and brighter...while the Avatar is going to sound noticeably thicker, looser, smoother and darker. Both should go nice and deep.

I've had 4 Avatar cabs,Yes they sound good (when they were cheaper too)the last purchase being another neo 410, last year, I bought other makes after that one.Nothing wrong with buying their product, maybe have better luck than me.
I just ordered one of these SB126s from Trevor with the standard Ceramic Delta FL 12 to work with my Genz Benz Contour 500 210. I'm hoping the two will voice OK together. I may use it (and another one) in another configuration with larger amps at a later time, so I thought the ceramic 12 would be a bit meatier, since the weight difference isn't really all that much. I was going to go with the B210, but was interested in this cabinet, and once I spoke with Trevor, it seems like it should have more the sound I prefer on the 5 string.
My SB126 arrived yesterday and it sounds great! It makes a nice fat low B; the porting/tuning of the cabinet agrees with the Delta 12 and the mids are smooth. It makes a good extension for the Genz Benz Contour 500 210. I like the tone of the SB126 better than the dual 10s that come in the combo (I wish the combo had the 126 components in it), but the SB126 and the dual 10s do combine quite well and hit hard for the size, and the efficiency is a close match.
The Avatar cabinet is very well built. I used to work with a PA cabinet builder here in LA, and I can't fault the build. I'd say it's built better than the combo's cabinet.
The GB Contour combo cabinet is built to be as light as possible, and so it uses thinner ply than I'd like to see; it flexes and vibrates a lot.
