AZ gtg anyone?

Damn! Thanks everyone for coming and making all my gear sound so much better than it does when I play it.

Anyone has any comments on the stuff they tried of mine I'm interested in feedback and also wanted to call out the star of the show - the Orange TB500 on the fEarful 1515/66. Devastating!

hey Bro, Your fearful 1515 with the Orange TB500 was OFF the freaking chain! AMAAAZING. Definitely one of the highlights of the day. It was so awesome of you to bring all that gear and let us check it out. I liked my Mesa M6 Carbine with your cab a lot! .... but the Orange stole the prize for sure!

There were a couple other stars of the day for me; ...I love the new Genz Benz 2x12 cab!! 40 lbs of gig friendly schlep factor with killer tone. Outperformed its predecessor quite handily. Josh's Wenge Neck Nordy was just mind blowing, and that 10 string bass (or however many strings it had ....what a killer sound and beautiful too!)

I also really loved Rob Curcio's basses. His five string sounded punchy and great during his band set and that fEarful Wedge was superb.

The best part of the day for me was meeting all you guys. What a great bunch of people, good players and tons of gear candy! Looking forward to the next one!

To those who missed it; ...you really missed a great event! Thanks to Genz Benz too for the cool showing and free stuff!

Thanks to all who showed up and especially those who organized! It was great to meet you all in person. I had a fantastic time & you're right Ryan, that Orange TB 500 with the 1515/66 was just earth shattering. Amazing rock bass tone!
We all definitely need to make sure that this was just the first annual, semi-annual, or whatever AZ Talkbass.com GTG. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

I ended up being really sick yesterday and couldn't make it, I really wanted to be there and had all of my gear ready to go, even spent over an hour on saturday putting a new battery in the 4runner to move all the equipment... Damn...
I guess we'll have to plan another....

Man, can't believe I missed this - hadn't checked the thread and missed the train!

Hope y'all had fun, and that there's another in the works soon. I'm kicking myself for not subscribing to the thread...

I'm sorry I didnt get a chance to hang out and meet more of you guys yesterday. I would of also liked to tryout more of the basses, and cool amps/cabs everyone brought. I was kinda in "gig-mode" yesterday and ended up just mostly just hanging out with my band mates outside most of the day. I hope no one thought I was being rude.

The owner and manager of the Icehouse thanked me for booking the event there, and said they had a more profitable day compared to most Sundays. They also told me we'd be welcome back anytime! I'm thinking we shouldn't wait another whole year for our next GTG, I'm thinking we should have these 3 or 4 times a year, except maybe next time I wont bring my bands or so dang much heavy gear. (my backs not feeling too great this morning...)

___________

I ended up winning the very cool Duck Dunn tribute bass that Syco raffled off last night.

I havent even had a chance to plug it in yet, (havent even unloaded my truck) but I played it for quite awhile last night after getting home. Wow! this is a very high quality bass and has super low action. I can already tell I'll be able to play much faster runs with this bass than my old Fender P/J's.

I always play flatwound strings, so I was also pleasantly surprised it already had them installed! Hey Rob, what brand/model stings are on this bass? I like-em!

PS: I was also very impressed with your playing and your bands performances yesterday!

Aw man, bummer you got sick. (get well soon!)
Hopefully we'll be having another GTG in just a few months!

Hey Eric, you are very welcome. I hope she brings you many years of playing pleasure. I forgot to get a pic of you with it. If you can send me one or post one of you gigging with it, I'd appreciate it. :hyper:

The strings are Curt Mangan Stainless flats. You can find them here; Invalid Link Removed

Adding to what Eric (Anderbass) and others are saying.....

I had a great time meeting all of you and sharing stories and hearing all of the great gear.

Josh..... FWIW... I think SWR is on the right track and GenzBenz is also going in the right direction from what I heard coming out of the new cabs. I wish you and both companies much success :bassist: Also, please thank the higher-ups at SWR for the door prize. Our drummer (Mike Brennan) who won the cab, is also a guitar and bass instructor and is very grateful for the generous donation.

I also want to thank Duke LeJeune and Joseph (JHawk Customs) for allowing us to check out the great Greenboy designed and Audiokenesis line of cabs. Man those little boxes can crank out some loud low end tone. There is definitely a fEARless 12wedge in my future.

I also want to thank all of the other sponsors that sent me some great stuff to give away like Hipshot products, and Mighty Mite and especially Skip with Circle K strings. I hope the guys that went home with the strings give them an honest try. You won't regret it.

Sorry you couldn't be their Duke, but we appreciated you letting Eric and Ryan bring the new Hathor 1544 for us to play with. FWIW it really sounded sweet and packs a big punch. Hope you can make the next one.

Man there are just so many great things to say about the day....... Great food, great atmosphere, awesome guys to hang with, great conversation, incredible line up of gear to sample, etc...... I think we have a special "fraternity" of guys here in AZ that most ppl don't have. Ryan .... thanks for the ear plugs and Gary, thanks for the pics. Looking forward to the video. We should do one with all the bassists next time :bassist:

Lastly I want to thank the owners of the Icehouse Tavern for letting us use their venue for the GTG. Man the BBQ was awesome and it was a perfect place to do it. Thank you Eric for booking the room for us.

So, let's keep this thread alive and pick another GTG date soon. I'm thinking maybe sometime in Feb. after the NAMM show....... What do you all think?

Peace......
