I tried out a B|AMP into several cabs at Long & McQuade in Markham earlier this month and was blown away. The next day, I pick up a slightly used B|AMP from L&M downtown Toronto. Everything works 100% but there is some discoloration to the face plate. I figured it was just dirty and tried to clean it with a damp cloth to no avail. You can see in the top right corner that the faceplate is a little darker. I assume that's where a sticker was when the original buyer bought it. I then compared the amp with a new one in the showroom and the new one too seemed to be a little faded, but not quite as bad as mine is. Has anyone ever seen this? It's purely cosmetics, and to be honest, I forgot about it until I took a picture for a friend.
I used it on Saturday at an open jam that one of my drummers hosts and where I provided the bass rig for the day. The B|AMP was powering a Fearless F112. An older soundman ran to the stage after the first set to tell me he had never heard bass that full and clear in that little bar. My drummer who is also a soundman sent me a message the next day to tell me the same thing. "Best bass tone EVER in that bar" were his word. I was running the amp flat with a HPF at 50Hz and the Variable Feedback Filter -12db @ 41Hz (after determining that "E" was the loudest note in the room). I also used Mem 1 with a bit of OD and Mem 2 with Distortion when someone sang Paranoid. Once the DB750 is gone next month, I'll be ordering some new cabs. Probably a Ref112 and maybe a Ref210 also. Next year it will be an NV115 to replace the NV610 I just sold.
This B|AMP is a beast! Definitely the best amp I've owned, and it keeps getting better. But I'd love to make it shiny again.
