Double Bass Baby Bass megathread

When I saw that serial number#000994....I though wow! You got a real find there bud. There were only 175-ABB's sold by March of 1964. 
I think the earlier ones before this were Zorkos, and Zorko hybrids.
Made me want to take a look at mine and it's serial #013848. So mine is probably toward the very last run from 1971 to 72'.
These pics are a treasure and wealth of information. Just by looking at the electronics one can see the quality of workmanship and componants. Today parts are scrawny looking, thin and made in China.

A lot of information in thread is pretty old, so in order to update things a little bit, where does one get a great sounding baby bass now a days? I noticed a lot of people in this thread raved about Azolas, but they aren't making basses anymore, so who's the top dog now?
There are alot of guys building Baby Basses these days, but there are so few reviews that it's hard to make an informed decision.
I have been talking to Andres Ortega of M.O.G. basses in Colombia. There isn't too much info here, so I was hoping that someone could chime in. He seems knowledgable and is super quick with emails. It's actually crazy how quick he is with emails. His replies always lead me to believe that he put alot of thought into his wood choices, and construction methods. I went over alot of options with him, and he seems to really know what he's talking about. However, I've never played one of his basses.
Does anyone play a MOG bass? Even just for a few minutes?

I ordered a Baby Bass from from M.O.G.
Should arrive in December. I´ll post my experience once it gets here..
Very nice. If you don't mind me asking, what made you chose MOG over someone like Sendel or Blady?
I contacted all of them to learn something about the prices and shipping to Europe. They were all very friendly and quick with replying to my questions. I gathered all the infos from this thread and what else i could find on the net, e.g. the experiences buyers had communicating/dealing with the different companies and what they said about the quality of the different brands.
I liked the fact that M.O.G is shipping the Basses with Thomastics or La Bellas.
I also found some youtube videos showing M.O.B and Blady Basses in action. Blady sounded good but I liked the M.O.G better..
I recently acquired a 90's Azola baby bass reissue. The sound is great, and the level of craftsmanship is unparalleled. It's currently strung with spriro weichs.
The only thing is, I'm looking for that old school, very traditional Latin sound, and it's 90% there...just wondering how to get it the rest of the way. Thinking, from what I've read, it might be because the wood bridge opposed to the original aluminum bridges. Any thoughts or insight into getting it the to that extra 10%?

Does it have a piezo pickup? It would be best to run it with just the diaphragm magnetic pickup. If there is a tone control, turn it all the way down. I think an aluminum bridge would help too. Andres Ortega sells aluminum bridges. Click on the MOG website link above your post.
It does have both piezo pickup, and the magnetic. Obviously the magnetic sounds more appropriate for the latin, with the tone knob down.
I checked out the link to MOG basses and didn't see where he was selling the aluminum bridges?
Anyone have any insight into how much difference the Solo spiros would compare to the weichs im sporting now?

Those look awesome! Any idea how much one of those puppies cost? I didn't see any prices on the website.
Yeah, I figured you were running the mag only with the tone down, but thought I'd mention it just in case.
If you send MOG an email, he will sell the bridge by itself. He is quick with emails. I think Sendel makes them, but never talkedto them.
