Hi Mauro
He told me that he owned 2 BB's,one of your instruments,and a Sendel BB.
He sold the MOG and he's tryin' to sell the Sendel cause he's playin' Salsa no more.
He spoke about differences in volume output between the 2 BB's,and this could be also a matter of personal taste i think.
Hope this cleans things up.

You know I really think that to get the BB sound right it comes down to basics. I've been playing my Ampeg BB4 for over 35 years. I notice today a push for high end gear and very sophisticated speakers. The BB is somewhat of a different beast...it will let everyone know it is in the house. You may not hear it too we'll on stage but it will boom in the hall.

I have played many venues around the world and enjoyed playing through some dream rigs...including live stage recordings setup by some of the legendary engineers of our genre... SALSA. One true constant has been and will be the building blocks of our sound. It has been a simple recipe since inception. 1 Ampeg BB4/BB5 + 1 Ampeg B15 + 1 skilled musician.

I've been blessed playing almost daily. My amp EDEN (whichever model fits you budget) and my speaker EV Black Widow w/4 inch voice coil exclusively.

The elusive, magic sound is is in your fingers...build those chops. Good luck.

I've got a chronic problem with my BB in that the G string has much lower action than the other 3. I've tried paper and plastic shims both over and under the plastic bridge cover, but nothing seems to work that well.

For a while I used a wooden bridge I had made, which solved the problem temporarily, but I'm digging the sound of the original bridge again and would really like to balance the strings out.

Any suggestions on how to raise just the G string by as much as 2-3mm?

Did you try shimming under the bridge foot? I don't know how this would affect the tone, though.

Or, if you're feeling crazy....You could lower the other 3 strings by shaving the plastic cover and adjusting at the neck. Or, you can try to make a new plastic cover from scratch.

Not the best of ideas, but that is all I got ;)
