Not that it makes the La Bella strings any less than what you say they are, but your website says you're endorsed by them. Now, when I get my baby bass those will probably be the second set I put on it because they're inexpensive and will work with a magnetic pickup, but you should disclose that, right?

You're absolutely correct! Unfortunately Talkbass only gives you but so much space in your profile to put endorsements. Sometimes I may forget to add it into a post when referencing a La Bella product. No biggie... It's not like I'm Victor Wooten or Stanley Clark ;-) and I'm not endorsed by them, I endorse them.. Thanks for your concern...

Any comparisons or comments on KK Baby Bass vs Andres Rosado PR vs Ray Ramirez? They all seem very similar and I am interested in hearing about them. I am an active bassist looking to move (finally!) into the upright world.

Jazz, American Standards, Latin... I guess I would like something that could be as versatile as possible. This might be tough. I do have an good pre-amp setup, so a quick 'sound change' would not be tough with a little eq and compression. I appreciate any comments you have about those makers regarding quality, playability, and overall durability.

For Latin music, the baby bass is king. However, for jazz, you might want to consider a wooden bridge with a piezo pickup. I know Ray Ramirez will build an active bass with both pickups, or you could modify another brand with an aftermarket piezo.

There are more versatile instruments available if you are looking to play strictly jazz or pop...but the Latin sound wouldn't quite be there. The magnetic diaphragm pickup on the Ampegs is very punchy and doesn't offer a lot of sustain, so this is why I think a piezo on a wooden bridge would give you more options.

I wanted to post an update on my KK Baby Junior....it's been a great addition to my tool box. I've had occasion to correspond with the owner Kris several times, with questions and such. He's been great to work with, very responsive and obviously a guy who cares about his customers and product. I guess the best compliment I can provide here, is that if I lost my KK for some reason....I'd immediately replace it with another.

I think they stopped making the Ned Steinberger RW strings that Ruben was talking about in that post. Is that right? Also, how many of you are not using the rubber piece that sits on top of the bridge any longer? Mine broke, and I'm wondering whether to replace it with some kind of rubber or not.
