Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

how do they compare to similar basses by other brands in this price range (Fender, ESP, Skyline, Sadowsky Metro Express....etc.)
Bacchus WL4-FM Custom III.
Ash with flame maple top...$999.
I can say mine is as good, if not better than the few dozen Fenders I've played/tried the last few years...I've sold half a dozen Jazz basses since I started playing, but I won't be selling this one.
Other than that, there's no way I'd spend $1,000 plus for an MIM when I can buy a quality bass from Bacchus that looks this good...and this is just one of many finishes you won't see from Fender.

You're not going to find many better basses at this price point. I have this model, which cost me the equivalent of about $1500.

Handmade, super good QC, and amazing tone. I had to shop around to find one that was a good weight, but mine is fairly light, balances well, and is super comfy to play.
I don't have much experience with ESP, Metro Express, or Skyline, but I did get a chance to play my bass (before I bought it) and compare it to some Japanese Metros. The Metros were excellent instruments, but mine came in $1000 cheaper, half a pound lighter, and with a better passive tone. And at the same price, you can get an American Fender. Maybe not even that now, given the recent price hikes. There are some great Fenders out there. There are some not so great ones as well. As you pay more for a Fender, what you are increasing is the likelihood of getting a great instrument. Bacchus basses are ALL excellent at their price point.
we aren't supposed to mention new Bacchus hand made bass listings in the TB classifieds in this forum, correct?
I also see a nice handmade Bacchus in the classifieds right now...

(note: above is relative one to another)
Only Craft and above made in Japan.
Handmade, made in Japan using selected top shelf woods.

I had this one listed for sale but can't come around to sell it. This is a hand made Bacchus custom from Headway Japan, I believe made in 1989. Tilt back headstock. Ash body. I changed the tuners to USA Hipshots. The bridge is stock. EMG JAX pickups paired to a Duncan 2 band with slap contour. Very boutique bass quality construction. Plays super nice and has killer tone.

Quick question to you Bacchus owners: can anybody here tell me which allen wrench I have to use for a Bacchus DX-4AC (Jazz Bass woodline model)? Got this sweet little bass used, but the neck is just a tad bit too straight. Many thanks.
So I just discovered the Bacchus bass. According to when this thread started I guess I've been living under a rock for a long time. I was shocked at the prices of these basses. Some prices are on par with a high end Fender. I've seen some beautiful Bacchus basses for sale. Where did these come from and do they play as nice as they look?
I’m currently looking at custom ordering a Bacchus headless. I was originally going to get a Kiesel, but I prefer the look and design of the Bacchus.
Was yours custom ordered or was it a stock model? If it was custom ordered how was that process?
How do you feel about the overall quality of the bass?
Anyone else with a headless Bacchus care to share their experience?
Here is the Cheapo Uni series made from Philippine. BJB-1RSM
Surprisingly she has great QC and outstanding factory fretwork than several Previous China made Squier Classic vibe bass , Fender Player bass and Cort GB74JJ i own before. Same price to current Squire affinity bass, but with USD 800~ 1K range bass guitar quality.
Tuning machine look cheap, but work well, turn smooth and keep tune nicely.
Stock ceramic pickups sound more to beefy tone compare to Squier VM J, CV J even Player J. But i swap with VTB-ST Hum cancelling Alnico V pickups which has sweeter tone to my ear, great match with Ernie ball Cobalt flat 2814.
Those cheap pot also work well, no scratching sound and turn smooth.
The most shinning part are Rock Steady Roasted Maple Neck ! I own it more than 2 months, both neck relief and action number has no change, the tune just stay in pitch well.
There are 2 minor issue on this bass are, first, stock bridge saddle screws are seriously loose, easily notable once i do action and intonation setup. Once string loose and move the saddle, the saddle screws just move itself. Replace with Wilkinson Brass saddle bend bridge and problem solve plus the shiny brass saddle made the bass look nicer.
The second issue are the Neck J pup placement are more to E string side from factory. I thought only happen on mine, but after i check the others BJB-1RSM, include the Non-Roasted neck BJB-1M at guitar store, holyshxt, all Neck pup has same issue too. No problem with Bridge pup, she well align with the string.
So, before i install the VTB-ST pup, i just trim the pickguard neck pup hole more to G side, plug the original mounting screw holes, redrill new holes and reposition the neck pup, those magnet pole pieces get well align to string now.
i have no complaint on this cheapo Bachuss J , play great and truly enjoy.
Wish there are BPB-1R with Roasted Maple neck available soon.....
