I would be thankful for whatever my dad got me. I played a 149 dollar squire that came with an amp for years. The amp lasted like 2 months before it broke. It appears you already have some basses to play and at 26 you should be working? I don’t know much about chili economy but I’m assuming 394 is a good hunk of change?

Am I missing something here? I thought this supplier provided very bad counterfeits, cheaply made copies of real products. Counterfeit = knock off = illegal. Possibly even made by slave labour.

Counterfeiting is one of the biggest financial scourges of our era from everyday goods to currency.

So your dad's encouraging you to participate in this trade?

As stated you could get a used SBMM Sub for the cost - at least it will be a good, playable instrument and have some value as a used instrument into the future - and not be an illegal counterfeit made in potentially dubious circumstances.

I'm surprised your dad's encouraging you to participate in the counterfeit market or perhaps he doesn't realise?

I think we cannot go there in this forum. Suffice to say: raised in Cold War and leftist (which I'm too, but not raised in Cold War...).
@JohnnyChatter I am thankful of whatever he gets me, it's just that a) it annoys me he doesn't get what drTSTingray is saying and b) as a musician himself doesn't get you like what you like and need what you need for your music or sound. Of course, if I can save a couple hundreds and come home with a player for life, I'll be really happy.

And for the people saying we should assemble something as a father/son project...yeah, we wanted to and among his many talents is woodworking so with some, maybe lot of trial and error we could do a whole instrument but he's been battling some weird allergy that hasn't let him actually do much with his hands so that's been put off 'til further notice but is hopefully going to be picked up in the future.

You have 5 basses, are 26 and not working, and listed 3 more USA / EU basses you HAVE to buy. I think your dad is trying to teach you a lesson by only offering to finance a substandard instrument. Could it be he is giving you a hint?

Sounds to me like you may have an unhealthy lust for gear, and could benefit from investing in your music hobby as a responsible adult.

I was considering a Rickenbacker copy on that site. Then I moved on to the idea of a Hondo Or On by copy from the 70's but with how much they were selling for I was able to get a real Rick for just a bit more.

Glad I spent the extra cash and got the real deal. Lesson is buy right, buy once.

This is what I’m having a hard time understanding. I thought you were a kid until someone else mentioned you were 26. I grew up poor in American standards. I am very grateful for my situation in all honesty knowing it could have been much worse. That being said I have very nice equipment and I got it all myself. My parents would have loved to buy me a bass but it just wasn’t affordable.... I think you need to look at the big picture friend.

I had the same impression at first. I don't know exactly what is the OP's family situation, so I'm trying not to be judgemental but...one thing I can tell you, though, is that me personally at 26, the only reasons I could have brought myself to ask my parents for money would have been for rent or for food if I was out of a job AND had no other options. At any age, I would never have dared to ask my father for something as non-essential as a 6th bass guitar, but then again I grew up in a middle-class home : If OP's father is a millionnaire, I guess it's a different story.

Unfortunately, I have dealt with AliExpress once and DH Gate twice......I was not satisfied all three times (and I shouldve learned the first two times)....Heres the kicker: I come from the school of "If you are going to do something, do it right". When these folks realize that their customers may pay a little more to not have to deal with incorrect cut nuts, glue that doesnt look like its been slapped together haphazardly, polepices that align with strings, bridge saddles that are actually cut, etc etc they will probably sell the crap out of these instruments (because, otherwise, they are well made) ....Until then, its a quality dartboard
