USA Subs sell for around 1100usd so not a real possibility, rather go for a Sterling in that case.
Will look into the Benton.
Also, I'm done working with my dad in this issues. He's clueless, demeaning and tbh, broke so it'd be unfair to ask him anything.
Saving up it is.
Did some quick maths and buyin a Sub here would be a bit less expensive than importing a Benton.

Buy the SUB, play for a lifetime.
Note I've bought ONE bass off aliexpress for 2 reasons: 1-cause buying the real deal would take a lifetime to find the cash & buy, 2- I was planning on modifying it regardless, & i've actually built a short scale neck for it (to match the original bass mine replicates) & it actually works.
Don't buy from aliexpress, you'll spend hours trying to find one acceptable, & into account all the upgrades you'd do spend to make it as playable for the same price you'd pay for this SUB your Teacher is selling.

Yeah, as I said earlier I'd buy a Chickenbacker, Fodera or Wal knock off...maybe, but a readily available in your local store? not worth it
I will have to skip the Sub my teacher is selling because I'm out of funds, mine or thrown at me so case closed I guess, but learned a thing or two, or rather confirmed what I already knew. Thanks all.

$400 for a good bass is a cheap price my first real bass was $200 back about 1969 … that is over $1000 in today's money

Problem is being broke
You're much better off with a second-hand Squier Affinity than anything from Alliexpress - you'd be lucky to get something playable at all.
There are always basses for sale: If you don't have the money now, wait until you do.
What are you playing now? Do you need an immediate upgrade? Also, your profile signature shows 5 basses...if you still have them, obviously sell some to help finance this bass, if she's "the one".

Wait until you get older and have a nice collection of basses and then you have to sell the nicer expensive ones to pay for mortgage, and car payments and other family expenses …

Oh, I'm not parting with any of them, they all have their space.
I would part with the Cort but that would open such a can of worms that WW ....lost count, would explode.
Guessing I'll go with what was my plan A all the way, work my ass off... and get the real deals over time i.e an American Sting Ray, an American Jazz/P and perhaps a Spector Euro LX 5 and a Wal. God I love those basses

Be an American. get a job,earn your own money and buy what you want.... Oh wait,.. we don’t do that anymore...

We have an easier saying in Spanish "lo barato cuesta caro" (roughly what's cheap ends up being more expensive)

You can get a nice used one for $400 and several new clearance ones are available for $600.

Buy it yourself and there's no problem. Tell him thanks for offering, but the Aliexpress bass is almost sure to be a disappointment.
