Baer Amplification Megathread!

I picked up an APX112 and APX210 earlier this year, and I have made several posts about them in this thread. I also started a new thread, here.

They do look great, I've been patiently waiting since I first saw talk of them, have contacted Roger a couple of times and do realize the limited supply chain is probably the hold up, but I'm getting antsy

We actually have a small quantity of both cabs in stock right now, they just haven't made it to the website yet. Feel free to message me for details.

Very nice Tom.

I knew it would be the case when I sold them, but I really miss my Valkyrie and ML212.

I still have 2 ML112s and just bought a Bergantino Forte HP. Very different amp from the Valkyrie but they are both clean without being sterile and really showcase the voice of each bass.

I've noticed browsing through the thread quite a few people are using the Genzler Magellen 800 with their Baer cabs. Is this a match made in heaven?
I've been using a Aguilar TH500 and while I like it I'd like to get something a bit less voiced. I think a more neutral or modern sounding amp might be better with my Jazz and Rickenbacker. The TH500 thumps with a Precision though so it won't be for sale.

I think the TH500/700 is hard to beat w the ML112's. Perhaps a preamp pedal might suite you best. Use the pedal to change the tone of the aguilar either through the fx loop or straight inline through the amp.

The MG-800 is a great head that plays nicely with most cabs, Baer included. It is definitely less voiced than the TH500.

Like Tom said, the Magellan is definitely more neutral than the TH500. If you are after a very neutral sounding amp (what goes in, is what comes out), you may want to check out the Trickfish. Good stuff and great peeps. That said, the TH500 is a very popular amp with our customers, so maybe it's worth exploring some different settings on the TH500 to see if you can't clean up the tone a bit there. Or, as g4string mentioned, you could try bypassing the preamp on the TH500 by inserting something like like Carey's Starlifter preamp in the effects loop and using that for the front end.

I like the Mesa WD 800 or Walkabout with the Baer ML cabs or Apex. Also like the Eich/Puma matchup as well. Magellan is solid as well, I just slightly prefer the others for my taste.

WalkAbout with a pair of ML112's is simply magical. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Randomly picked up a festival gig, got to debut the Triple Cheeseburger setup. (Didn't get a good pic, sadly.)

LOL I've run the Triple Cheese setup a few times and was really happy with the sound. Also does a great job of widening out the soundstage. I was able to get very far off axis and still have it sound great.

Made the switch to Baer a few weeks ago with an ML112. Always been a fan of mid drivers vs tweeters (loved my Bergie NV115). Really liked it and since Roger said he had some in stock, decided to grab another one. It arrived yesterday and I just got to listen to it today. May I say "WOW!"
As I mentioned to Roger, as in RnR and many food items, Two is usually better than One. Here's a family photo with the two Sadowskys. Add the Forte D head and the sound is fairly magical.
