I have a S15XL that I swapped out the coax for a regular BE speaker. Never used the tweeter and wanted to ditch the extra weight. It goes a little lower than the standard S15; 40hz vs 50hz. As a result, it smooths the mids a little. My go to speaker for most live situations. If I need a little more, I add a regular S15. It never dissapoints.
Oh, and the coax speaker and crossover are available if anyone wants to upgrade...

X has the coax tweeter, D is deep red carpet covering, L is a little larger box than the standard cube.
Balance is the wrong word. I guess what I mean is, does the L version sound/feel fuller- or more complete with regard to lows? My experience with smaller boxes around a 15 has been that they can lack lower end extension.

I should have known:
D= red
C = black
R = portable
B = big or bass

1x15, 1x18 seen in my avitar image and a 4x12 that is not. We are working on 2, 1x15 empty oiled cabs
Weve been actively seeking a 2x10 Bag End enclosed sub originnally made for theater instals. Low end for days! I had one years ago but friends had issues with the speaker so I didn't fully get to pull the trigger on it. I'll search this club to see if anyone is using one.

Different models with the first letters meaning D=double S=single. The 2x10 & 2x12 install versions have this.
They also mean different models via finish. Derp Red, Black, Birch, oiled?
While other letters mean eXtendend and Install.
Best thing with bag end is to get familiar with a local dealer where you get to try different speaker cabs or even rent out old installations that have been repurposed.

Finding cabinets for spare drivers has been cheaper then sourcing the drivers alone as they are a investment.
Thinking about maybe adding a S-18d to my rig options.. Currently using a DNA DNA-112 on top of a Bag End S-15d. I think the 18 instead of the 12 would be a fatter floppy tone that I love
