It's a spray on finish. Like duratex.
Its like a bed liner, water tight and supposedly very durable. Color is almost black but shows purple in different light
Didn't get in here before you placed your order. Just a recommendation, save a lot of hassle and a lot of weight (your back) and get the self powered cabs. Then get yourself a nice tube preamp like a Arkham Oracle, Shift Line Olympic or maybe a Broughton SV-Pre (not tube but based on an early 70 SVT preamp).
2 PS-15 self powered cabs would get you 750watts of air pushing for about 90lbs of cab and a pedalboard. No pedalboard? Throw the preamp in your gig bag. And, the power amp has built in HPF. Which is very handy and eliminates another pedal you may be lugging around.
And, yes, these are built to order. Usually they say about 3 weeks but with the world the way it is...???
The 12's are a little lighter, and I just love the sound of 12" speakers.
I do as well. Still have my Genz neo 2x12 cabinets. If you haven't played through a bag end 15 and compared with one of your 1x12 cabinets I would recommend.
Thanks for the suggestions. Right now I am kind of amp rich, soo... I don't feel like I am ready to go down the powered path just yet, especially since they cannot power another passive speaker. What I would like to see is a creative way to install a power unit into a pedalboard so that you can just change out pedals and keep the power amp ready for any cab you might want to take.
Haven't played one in a while, and I had only played the coax. Didn't like the tweeter version.
I have that cabinet. You really have to roll off the highs if you aren't playing full range. LPF work great with that cab. I like it with my other 15 non coax cab.
Now that I have BagEnds coming I've tried to read everything I can on them. Seems there are several amps folks really like with it, among those the old GK and the MB LMIII. I've not played GK stuff, but through description those two heads seem very different. Do these cabs dictate the sound or are they easily changed with what you put in front? I've had some cabs that no matter what I use I get nearly the same tone.
Just about any amp sounds good through Bag Ends.

i don’t think that’s the case, just that the GK amp was super popular when BES really hit the market and the LM was also pretty popular when these cans were rediscovered a bunch of years ago.
there are so many good amp choices for them don’t limit your options.
Hey thanks. That makes some sense, because the Thunderfunk is also mentioned a lot and that might go back to that time as well, and related amps.
I have another question as well. I have read ALOT of TB regarding the Bag End cabs now. As all of you know, there are so many peeps that either feel the need to mention or complain that they don't go low enough - specifically the standard S15. I know this is how the cab is voiced, but is that similar to how a HPF works? The HPF adjusts the signal, but in this case the cab actually works in a similar fashion but more from a mechanical standpoint? It is amazing how so many cabs now go so low, I have some MAS cabs that are supposed to go down in the 30ish hz area - but with all these I have had to make sure that I always have an adjustable HPF on hand to control stage boom and mud. Does this cab negate that issue for me? Even if I pump the bass knob the cab won't reproduce those frequencies? On my WD800 I like how I can turn up bass and increase the HPF area to achieve some interesting sounds.

when I first started using Bag End stuff in the early 90s, I pushed them with AMP stuff (if you know Thunderfunk history, that is where those heads were born).
I played a lot of gigs with an S12 sittig on an S15 with an AMP head and moved buckets more air than everyone else with GK heads sitting on Hartke aluminum driver full stacks.
After literally playing Bag End for my entire life, I think I'm ready to sell my S15-D stack. My dad bought Bag Ends before I was born, and I grew up playing his Peavey and Gallien-Krueger amps through them. I bought my own pair around 2003 and have played hundreds of gigs on them. They haven't been plugged in in nearly a year now. Ugh, this is a hard decision.
Because I have too many amps/cabs, not enough space, and need to make room for an inherited piano.
