I’ve been using an 810 live lately, but my recent addition of a Mesa 2 ohm-capable head makes this S15 stack possible, and much more portable. Thinking of unleashing it at this Saturday’s gig…the fine folks at Happy Hours Bar & Grill won’t know what hit them. Thoughts?

I have run 3 s15 cabs with a GK 800RB using both the 300w 4 ohm amp and the 100w 8 ohm amp.

It sounds great and gets very loud. I saw go for it!

I don’t have the coax tweeter cab though.

I wish I could try out some Bag End cabs in Toronto. We used to be able to get them here but I haven’t seen them around in 20 years.

I've got a pair of S15-Ds that are my go-to cabs for gigging. PM me if you want to ask questions or try them out some time. I picked up one of the cabs on TB and one in Ottawa (Kijiji). Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't hesitate to spring for shipping from the U.S. to get a pair. Volume - check, tone - check, portable - check. I can't find anything I don't like about them.

Used cabs are funny though, condition is everything and it's hard to tell if the speaker surrounds / spiders have been stressed from high db use without plugging into it and hitting it hard for a few notes to see if the cones bottom out.

If it's around on the weekend I may take a trip into the big city. Thanks for posting!

Nope. After doing some research on the 12" deep 410 I knew I wouldn't be walking out with it. I just don't need it and if the reviews of it's sound being light on the low end side and overall weight on the heavy side of things it's not for me. If it was the 18" deep version I would have gone down to check it out.

Seemed like a lot of Jazz guys liked that cab but that's it. lol. I like jazz too but I play everything in my home studio where space is at a premium. Unfortunately I can't have gear sitting around that I won't use.

Tough choice since they are both beautifully designed… I’m presently using the Birch which get lots of love at the different venues we play at. They just look so great…

Got a question for the Bag End clan here. My little practice amp rig... I've got an S10-D box a few years old. I got into a situation a while back, annnnnd... LSS, the speaker blew. I pushed it too hard, totally my fault. I didn't even realize it until a couple weeks later, and it just sounded pharty on low end. It was still there, still had volume, just couldn't produce low notes anymore. I thought back to that gig. Yeah, the damn stage curtains were flapping behind that little box. It sounded whoop-ass. I'm an idiot for not bringin' the big boxes that night.

So I used some and bought another speaker, put it in my little Bag End, took my lumps and life went on. But I've still got the blown one... stashed away in the box the replacement came in.

Can it be fixed? I did the 'battery test'... don't know what it really proves, but the cones jumps and thumps when I touch a 9v to the terminals. I checked the Bag End page... I didn't see any obvious "Shop Services" tab. It's an Eminence speaker I guess...

Whatchall think I oughta' do with this? It hurts my heart and pride to trash it. I'm completely willing to pay someone to fix it just to have a spare.

Edward, have you contacted Bag End yet? As with all equipment problems, the manufacturing company is the place to start for possible options.

I did look around the site. It seems they don't even offer a replacement part for these cabinets anymore, so I wasn't too hopeful.

I’ve had a few Bag End speakers re-coned over the years. Always made them good as new! There should be someone in your area that does that…if not there is one in Portland Oregon you could send it to…they have never let me down! Let me know if you need their info!

Hi all, plugged my PS15B in for the first time in a while. Noticed distortion, changed cables, outlets, basses, signal chain, eventually just plugged direct into the back with a 1/4 inch. Result still the same. It's strange because the primary bass signal sounds great, there's just this constant distortion coming along with it throughout the entire range - low E to harmonics…. Here's a recording. Any ideas?

I think there is a good chance the voice coil is fried or rubbing. Could be something is rubbing against the back of the woofer cone, or some other part of the cab is vibrating. I supposed it could be a bad amplifier module as well.

I would pull the woofer and run it at low power in free air. You can also tap the cone lightly to see if the noise occurs. You can also move the cone in and out with your hands. Be gentle and apply balanced/even pressure on the surround. The idea is to avoid flexing the cone or forcing the driver's suspension out of alignment.

To test the amplifier module, disconnect the woofer and hook the wires up to another driver.

AFAIK, the drive/cab combination is only rated 300W RMS and the spec sheet say the built in power amp is rated 750W continuous. The amp does have a limiter, but AFAIK there is no mention of whether it is set to prevent clipping or limit power to <750W. I suspect plenty of power is available to blow drivers if user discretion is not applied. A selectable HPF is available. 50hz would probably work well for this cab with bass.

Hi, just wondering what your typical signal chain is when plugging into the cabinet? The PS15-B needs an external preamp to drive the built in power amp. What have you used in the past that worked? How long has it been since you used it?
