Bag End Stack in the House!

the letter after the '-' in the name dictates finish.

-B = birch
-D = deep red
-C = carpet (black carpet pre deepred series stuff)

most cabs come in a couple finishes... mine was a special order, the S12-B and S15-B come in it 'mass produced'. I had bought mine off the floor at a local dealer.

Yeah, I'm familiar with their cabinet nomenclature.

I was wondering if they are production or special order, because that will probably affect what kind of deal he can get me - since the D12-B is special order most likely he won't be able to get me any discount.

if he's an endorsing artist (like me) then it's just a matter of emailing his contact for a quote. There is no separate deal for PA vs Bass cabs and it's the same discounting applies to special order, custom design and off the shelf stuff.

EduardoK: I picked the D12 because I wanted a 2x12". I ran an S12 and S15 stacked in the past (with the same head I run now) and don't recall the old set up being any bassier than I am now... nor do I want for more low end out of my current setup.

Thanks James. I'm probably not going to get a D12-B in the short term. I've already got that sweet Q10BX-D...:bassist: And there is other "necessary" equipment that has to come first.

If I get another Bag End in the near future, it will probably be an S15 (either X or X-D).

pinging CapnSev, care to chime in with your experience with the S15 and the S-15L combination?

Pinging heard my friend!

My digital camera took a turn for the worse shortly after I bought my S-15LD, and I just got a new one about a month ago.

Anyway, here's my review of the S-15XD/S-15LD stack. I initially had the XD paired up with an Aguilar S210, which was a terrible combination. I mostly used the XD on it's own at that time, if I could get away with it. I then wanted another BE to go with the XD cab. I was debating between an S-12D and the S-15LD. I wanted the 12 for quickness, but figured that I really wasn't hurting in that department with the XD, so I decided on the LD for the added lows - and man, does it add LOWS - and it's LOUD.

This is quite easily the fastest, deepest, and best sounding setup that I've ever had. Now I honestly think that my ThunderFunk head is the weak link (not that it is at all bad, not even close). The head needs some boost in the lows the really get the full range out of the cabs. However, I do like the subdued top end in the T-Funk, it compliments the XD's non-attenuating horn very well, either by itself, or paired with the LD. Again, the head is really not a crutch, but I have had the chance to put a Markbass F1 on the top of the cabs, and that thing really shines!

The XD by itself needs a little amp tweekage on the low end to get a really nice tone, but slap the LD underneath it and it's automatic good tone. It makes me think that the S-15LXD would be a perfect stand-alone cab.

I am using mainly a Stingray 5, and rarely do I have to EQ anything on this rig to change styles. I go from slap to thump to fingerfunk without doing anything but changing technique. I credit a lot of that to the cabs and the bass. These cabs are fully prepared to change styles as fast as I do.

I have zero GAS for cabs anymore. The weird thing is that my GAS is curbed by 2 15s!? I just can't get over that.

Here's a picture to feed the GAS beast for anyone thinking about this setup:
