Balanced Tone

Good Afternoon
Playing songs like RiKKi Dont Loose That Number. Range from Low open E to High G string 12th fret.
How if possible to change my settings so that I can hear the very high range notes without having the low notes boom absurdly loud?
Have a Squier Jazz. Eq nob about middle. Both volumes about %70.

I agree with the above. Also, try a HPF to tame the boom and allow your amp to focus on the mids to be heard in a mix. I have found this to be true if the mix is coming through your own stereo system or headphones, as well as in a band context. I think Becker played on Rikki and he favored J basses, although I don’t know what he played on that recording.
