My first attempt at Cedar Plank Salmon. There was some pooling of the brown sugar/ dijon mix at the top of the plank and it got crispy, but only on the wood, the fish came out tender and exploding with flavor. It was a big hit with the whole tribe
This thread has inspired me to try all sorts of new things for the family that we'd never considered/ heard of. Thanks @fcleff for starting it up and to everyone else for participating!

One perfectly ripe fresh fig off our backyard tree, first of the season. And it's raining, so many many more are going to be ready this week. The danged tree was essentially dead two years ago and my wife trimmed it back to bonsai. Now it looks like a bamboo forest with hundreds of little green balloons, many of which are going to take a ladder to get at. As long as the prolific crop of baby raccoons don't start channeilng pandas I guess it's all good.

Nice. Coconut sugar is pretty good for dishes like that as well.

When I first moved out here there was major beef between the windsurfers and the First Nation fishermen, who use gill nets that are easy to run afoul of. They had a huge free dinner party for us and I'll never forget the mastery they had with alder planks. They also traded salmon with other tribes for Dungeness crab, venison, huckleberries, and so on.

That looks great. Haven’t done a plank fish in a long time.

Blueberry picking was much better today. We got about 4 high quality pounds in well under half an hour. Lots of families with kids, so going high on the bushes was the bank move.

Then we did a little frou-frou balsamic tasting. The espresso one was surprisingly nice. Also dug serrano-honey and lemongrass-mint, but all three of those would just be marinade fodder for us and we settled on the grapefruit one that works so well for us for summer salads. We pretty much always have Classico on hand, but have yet to try the frou-frou joint's rendition. It's full on tourista season across the river and two hours was all we could handle over there.

First decent local tomato of the season yesterday, made for really nice BLTs with arugula and home sprouts.

Im a pretty serious fan of Macaroni and Cheese. I love to eat Macaroni and Cheese but I dont eat very often unless my mom comes over to cook Macaroni and Cheese for me. I love when she makes me a fresh pot of hot and fresh Macaroni and Cheese. I wish I could cook my own Macaroni and Cheese so than when my mom crosses the entire city to visit me by bus and than does my laundry and cuts the grass and mops the floors she could sit back and relax and maybe for just once in our lives I could return the favor of making Macaroni and Cheese for her. :meh:

My interpretation includes Hef purchasing a sub, from eBay...

... could be edible... could be submersible...

... with Hef, it could be both.
And if he times it right he could have that sub launch out of the back of his trousers on stage in time for the encore. First chord of the last song starts with the brown note so the entire event becomes participaction.

I had a fantastic espresso before my dish shift this evening.
Did you have the honey garlic expresso?, Im told that one is insatiable, whatever that means. I tried the salt and vinegar expresso but that one made me run to the toilet fast and I tripped over my cats and fell into the steel heat duct on the washroom floor. It was a bad scene. My mom told me if I keep reacting to new experiences in these foul types of mannerisms then no more Macaroni and Cheese for me and my bass gear is going back to the pawn shop again. I cant go on like this.
