Ban Hammer

John Lennon argued that Elvis for all intents and purposes died when he entered the army.
Akin to that, I felt Nobody died when he exchanged his po-faced, all-glories-to-Fender Cat Persona for that of crotchety, angry old white guy (talk about a difficult persona with which to distinguish oneself, particularly round these parts). Sometimes it is preferable not to know the performer behind the mask.

As For SF, I mourn his absence. I found his louche persona and Seinfeldian, "nothing happens" posts to be sufficiently amusing that I had come to anticipate them. His low-rent, besotted, 'let it all hang out' style made him a sort of inhouse barroom philospher. Unfortunately, he was better and tweaking noses than taking tweaks, and spent a lof of time whining at the moderators, who for the most part went out of their way to offer SF well-meant advice on improving hia game both on tb and in life in general. These good deeds went unrewarded, of course, and the car careened on toward the cliff.

One commonality between Nobody and SF was the tendency to give repeated voice to a persecution complex. In that regard one might argue both were 'asking for it.'

Is there any way to tell if someone is perma-banned as opposed to simply on a 'time out'?

If their profile gives you an error instead of a profile they're not on a time out.

The purpose of banning someone, is they posted something that should not be posted, therefore keeping it posted, defeats the entire purpose, doesn't it?

In more severe cases, possibly. In other cases it can be instructive to look someone up who's been banned, look at their last post and learn something best avoided ourselves.

Perhaps a rogue's gallery, with rules violated, rather than the actual content.
But then, that is targeting and impugning the reputation of those banned.

Even a comment on the profile saying: "Banned for repeated bashing of Foderas" would do.

Along with Nobody and Super_Freak, you are my favorite posters on here. You all help me get through the mess that is our World. Please, stay strong. For my sake.

:)

Malak, you know your status with me. (Thank you):hyper:

Stay safe my TB Heroes!!!

Once again, Former Backup Dancer for the Nobody Band Again

I have started to notice that I seem to read posts that feature the same dozen people or so making commentary. It's a pretty sharp and entertaining group. ;)

I am always looking for entertainment and go through a fair amount closed threads that I'm sure were enough to bring out the ban hammer. So now I like any post that kills one of these threads in a humorous way. Some of the caretakers are quite entertaining when bringing the boom.

For some reason when I first saw your user name I thought it was "Old Garage Bender". I'm not sure what that would mean, one who bends garages? What would that even look like? Like spoon-bending only bigger and crunchier?
I Can't Dance, liked this post. And I liked this post. My yellow "who likes this" bar read:
You and I Can't Dance like this. :woot:
I hope we don't get banned if we dance like this. :hyper::hyper:

i thought "Super Freaky nobody" to be a pretty cool band name.
Things i learned from this thread:
1. Dont bash Fenders (I can champion that)
2. There are no eye rollin smileys -is this guy drinking a river: drool?!
3. You can dance if you want to:hyper:, but leaving your friends behind is optional
4. Don't hit a land mine with a hammer
