Ban Hammer

Hmm... we'd need to have the judges weigh in on that. Technically speaking, in a situation like that, she could be getting in the way of things. I'd say "just sayin" here, but I really hate that phrase.
A few months ago my wife was asking about what gear I had (a question for which you should get banned if you answer honestly). Her motive was really just curiosity. I happened to say I like all the basses I have and have all I need. I don't think I'll be buying another. Her response, "yeah, right."
She has not clue about names or models. I have to refer to them as the red one, the one I traded the cowboy guns for, the black one, the one I'm working on in the garage, and the one you like.

For some reason when I first saw your user name I thought it was "Old Garage Bender". I'm not sure what that would mean, one who bends garages? What would that even look like? Like spoon-bending only bigger and crunchier?
Of course there are garage benders:

Just erase the bad ones and let everything else fly. :smug:

If only it were that easy. As someone else said, we remove the offending content because it was against the rules and therefore shouldn't be on the board. Would you rather us delete a post and allow the thread to continue, or close the thread at every infraction to avoid someone quoting - thus reposting - the offending post?

This is why we should be informed what caused someone to become banned. Examples are better teachers than rules.

Most states/cities/towns have laws that are broadly described as disorderly person/disorderly conduct/etc. There aren't specific examples listed of what people do to violate those laws, but the vast majority of citizens are able to go through their day to day lives without breaking them. It's not hard. If you are about to make a post that could be considered controversial or over the line, take a quick glimpse at the rules. If you think you're good to go, post it. If not, reconsider posting it.

Could you clarify this please? How is "bashing a brand" defined by TB and exactly what is the reason for its prohibition?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I personally don't like any Ibanez bass I've ever played. There's a difference between me voicing my opinion like that and giving reasons in a civilized manner, rather and posting or starting a thread just saying things like: "IBANEZ SUX!", "Only idiots play Ibanez", "Ibanez basses are crap", etc. The reason it's prohibited? It comes down to respect. We're all bassists and part of a community. We should be building each other up rather than tearing each other down. This includes our instruments.

That actually happened, but not under that name. I will not repeat the name here.
They started a site and their original mantra was anything goes and no bans.
The guy who started the site had some emotional problems and became irrational. It finally imploded.
And I was banned for life.

There actually is a web forum local to my area which has essentially no rules whatsoever. It is worse than 4chan (which actually does have some built-in checks) and has resulted in people being stalked and arrests being made. Nobody in their right mind posts there anymore, so those who do post are by definition not in their right minds. It's a shame, it used to be at least semi-moderated and was fun for a while, but the guy who owns it now does nothing with it, there is no moderation, and the lowest form of humanity now rules it.

Like I said, it's kind of like Arkham Asylum on line. (And no, I'm not going to call it out by name.)

Along with Nobody and Super_Freak, you are my favorite posters on here. You all help me get through the mess that is our World. Please, stay strong. For my sake.

Malak, you know your status with me. (Thank you):hyper:

Lol, my incisive curmudgeonly posts entertain somebody other than myself, that's good :)
I hope I sometimes contribute useful information once in awhile :/

Hasn't anybody seen all the post-apocalyptic films? It always ends up like that. When you have anarchy, the world becomes a place that is ruled by the biggest jerks.
