How is the musicianship? IME you can pretty much always tell what a multi instrumentalists "Main" instrument is.

It's a cool idea, but for Gods sake, don't let the drummer play guitar!

On this note, there is a local band that does a similar thing. HOWEVER, they always have at least one of the members on their main instrument. Somehow, having at least one of the band on their main instrument covers up the lack of musicianship on the weaker parts. Not weak, but when the drummer is playing guitar, you can just tell it's not as good. By having, say, the bass player on bass for that song, it works out better.

Does that make sense? I'm pretty wasted right now and blasting The James Gang.

lazy susan, schizophrenia, and master of none are my favs. although in all honesty I think bringing attention to the fact that you're going to be switching instruments is kinda cheesy. almost like explaining a joke. If I were doing it, I'd do all 3 sets with different people on different instruments (only make the changes between sets, for the entire set) and not mention a word about it. let people notice (or not) on their own. I think it would be a lot more effective.
