Bands that broke up too early?

Because unlike most marriages (between two people anyways), a band COULD potentially carry on minus one member who died.

THAT is what's with the "endless listing of bands where people croaked."

Sorry if those distinctions between marriage and bands were not premptively drawn out for you at the outset of the responses.

Ok, I'm done with the bad jokes. My vote for band departing too early would be Edna Swap. (Singer wrote "Torn" which Natalie Imbruglia ruined). Snot was also on the path to success and I think they would have trumped System of a Down. Lucky to have hung out and opened for both back in the day.

Edna Swap is AWESOME. "Back On The Sun" and well that whole album, is FANTASTIC!

sooo, you think stevie ray vaughn's band should've carried on? jimi hendrix performing without jimi? that would've been a BLAST!

Yeah, a death in the band is not the same thing as a band breaking up. Case in point (Aside from the obvious Hendrix, Joplin, etc... where the main focus of the band is the one who died)- Alice in Chains, they're not the same without Layne Staley (even though they broke up before he died). That being said, I'm kind of surprised that even with the smallish metal presence in this thread, noone has mentioned Sepultura. They're all still alive & playing music (to my knowledge), but unfortunately not playing together any more.

My two cents: The thread is Bands that broke up too early. I take that to mean these are bands we wish kept going instead up breaking up.

Could these bands that called it quits have gone on after whichever member died? Yes. Should they have? No.

With those things in mind, I think including bands that quit after a death shouldn't be included here. I really don't care that much (beyond posting this one post), either way, so I'll just leave it alone after this.
