Bands that broke up too early?

Sepultura were my favourite band as a kid. I can assure you they didn't break up before their time. Roots Bloody Roots indeed... Derrick does a better Inner Self than Max too. Fact.

I can't say I've ever had the urge to "punch a kitten in the face"..but that is prolly one of the funnyest things I've ever heard.

lol.... i always thought i'd have to pretty darn pissed off to punch a kitty in the face. but now all i can imagine is somebody running into their house, super happy that they got that gig they tried out for, and gleefully smacking a kitten in the face.

There are many bands in the responses where the seminal member of the gig passed away. Sublime without the main creative force is just a tribute band. I read the OP to mean bands that flamed out prematurely, not ended up in a morgue.

The Doors didn't "break up too soon" (or not soon enough, depending on how you feel about them) the main dude died. Very different.

Because unlike most marriages (between two people anyways), a band COULD potentially carry on minus one member who died.

THAT is what's with the "endless listing of bands where people croaked."

Sorry if those distinctions between marriage and bands were not premptively drawn out for you at the outset of the responses.

Yeah, they were pretty darned awesome, everyone ought to give them a listen, his son is an amazing drummer too. A sad loss.

Trapeze were just about my favourite band back in the day - was gutting when Hughes left, but they carried on (the Hot Wire album is worth finding) Got to meet Mel a few times in the late '70's, he was a really nice bloke, and of course a great guitar player. Sadly missed.
