Barber Linden EQ • New small form factor

Got my Linden today.

Well first things first, it did not do well in the Busters fx loop.
Oh well, it does sound really good in front though. At wife is in the house volumes I tend to really like the tones with my L-2000 in passive and with only the front pick up selected and the settings in the pic above.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s rehearsal where I can hear it at band volumes and in the mix.

Always mo' better! There is a charming magic in the Baxandal tone stack that in the very least can offer a different tone on tap it not a new addictive always on tone boner.

i would grab one of these especially for 100 bucks if I did not already have my own little box of Bax magic rendered by a master.

This pedal design and company have one heck of a fine track record Jim. While it may not make your rig sound better, it can help you find some pretty cool new voices. :)

Tough call...but the Linden does have its own special mojo that I have found to be very appealing. I'm running Whirlwind Bass OC --> Linden EQ --> tube pre and it sounds phenomenal...probably the most Motown sounding setup I've had. For a $100, this pedal is an absolute steal and I think a lot of bass players would find it to be a very valuable pedal to add to their FX toolbox.

I wonder if Barber deciding to keep his prices reasonable is hurting him to some degree? The Linden is a proven class act I’d describe as comparatively underpriced rather than “econo”.

Don’t know if it will make your rig sound better to you but I’ve used a V1 Linden in front of provided amps for several years and it’s made every one of those sound better. Recently the identical sounding V2 Linden in front of a mediocre sounding Traynor house combo has gotten me several compliments on my sound.

Good point
I was thinking an economy price for a high quality unit although it didn't sound thay way.

I have so much gear that isn't being used which makes me hesitant to buy more.
Amps are expesnsive to ship and I can't seem to give away a mint Sting Ray.
OTOH, I trust you guys and it is flipable at no great loss.

Guess I will take some gear to the local used shop and accept that you can't always buy and sell without taking a loss.
Will order the Linden tomorrow and report back.
Big step for a guy who never used pedals and now has a compressor and HPF.
Good thing there is a scrap piece of 1x6 and some duct tape so I can build a "board":)

It does.
I initially used it just to brighten up my passive P w/flats, then I switched back to rounds and I don't feel the NEED to use the Linden anymore, at least for that application.
But I noticed than it does make my entire rig sound better when it's on, even set for flat EQ.
Best bass EQ pedal I ever tried, honestly.

I'm curious to know where you guys have your Linden in your signal chain. Mine is early in the chain, after tuner and compressor but before octave, od, fuzz and whatever I put last (bit crusher, modulations, delay/verb etc.).
I prefer the Linden to not interfere with the compressor's threshold if I want to boost the output of my bass and/or change some signal frequencies. I also like it before dirt because it's such a nice boost for any application possible. I never tried mine last in the chain, honestly. Not having a DI and being 100% clean I think it's more useful for tone shaping or boost applications.

Mine is first after my tuner. My comp is a few units down in the chain at the moment.
