Actually it's surprisingly nice for recorded music if you crank the treble boost all the way up to get the vocals and cymbals the sheen/air they need! When we were first testing the prototype driver we clamped it in a workmate with no enclosure, boosted the bass and treble and ran our music through it for an afternoon.
Curious about this one for sure.
I got my Retro810 custom cab only a few weeks ago and I can't believe I have found something I like more than the 69er. I might still gig the 69er more because of how much easier it is to move around but damn Alex, those new speakers sound GREAT.
This little 1x10 is a killer idea.

I'm still very curious about how your upright is performing with the One10 vs. BB2.
With the BB2, did mention that you like to turn the tweeter "off" to minimize string noise? I'm just getting familiar with the BB2, but suspect the knob is not really turning the tweeter off. It's just changing how the upper frequencies blend with the lower range. For example, I've been playing my Rob Allen Deep 4 fretless (w/Status black nylon tapewounds) and my Reiner Studio 1200 hybrid tube amp set neutral through various settings of the BB2 dial. I presumed it would sound "best" with the dial all the way on (100% to the left). But after trying many positions, the bass really opens up to a sweet spot with the dial at about 4:00, which is roughly 25% in the "on" position. It's stunning how closely this configuration mimics a nice, round, full-sounding upright bass. Really beautiful tone! I'd call it a "Ray Brown" tone but my fretless playing ability is but a micro-spec compared to that particular master player!
So with the One10, there is no tweeter or availability of range above 4kHz. Would you mind giving your upright a whirl with the One10, and then trying it with the BB2's dial @ 4:00 and report the tone of one vs. the other? I would think a lot players would be very interested in versatility of the One10 with upright bass (or an analog with bass guitar). I suspect the One10 is not "bad" but am expecting it to be different due to no tweeter.

Today, I spent some time in my practice room with my Acoustic Image Clarus XL (older version) plugged into my One10 and my BB2, both alone and together. I only played upright since I'm a bit short on time. I ran the upright through an FDeck pickup with the HiPass set at about 50 hz and then directly into the effects return, taking the AI preamp out of the equation. As you requested I focused on the 4:00 setting on the BB2 to see if I could replicate the sweet spot you found.
Here is what i found:
1. My ears are probably not good enough but while I liked it set at 4:00, it didn't sound appreciably different than other settings. I did conclude that I like the dial turned further to the right then the left which I think tends to de-emphsize the tweeter.
2. I don't know why I said on the day I received the One10 that I didn't like it with the BB2 but did like with the Super Midget. I loved the BB2 together with the One10 this afternoon, and felt they make a great pair. The larger BB2 speaker fattens up the One10 a bit, but the One10 is still plenty fat for the sound I'm trying to get. They also both sound great on their own. I found that if I turned up the volume a bit to equalize the difference in speaker size and box volume, that the One10 sounded like the little brother to the BB2. I still love both of these speakers and the light weight and great sound of the One10 is really perfect for many of the small group private party gigs that I do. When I need more horsepower, I can take the BB2 or both of the speakers.
Not sure if this was what you were looking for, but there you have it.

Custom Barefaced Bass Retro810 - @alexclaber killed it on this one. I have a 69er but had never head the new speaker. It's really quite amazing.
(I love how long it takes to scroll up and down on either one....)
Thanks for the effort you put into providing that feedback, Erik! I probably would not use the One10s as PA speakers, but it sounds like they'd do fine for either electric or acoustic in the smaller volume situations.
I should have such 'accidents'...well, if the 610 is a fridge-killer then I can't begin to speculate how you'd describe this. I suspect 'phenomenally loud' would creep in there somewhere though!

It is PHENOMENALLY loud. With my SVT there is a definite sweet spot. Without a loud drummer, I can get way too loud way too quickly. The other thing is that it's ported. I wasn't expecting that. So I have had to ever so slightly roll back my bass on my amp.

It is quite ridiculously loud - we're used to VERY LOUD BASS CABS here and it still shocked us, even having already run the numbers.
Although there are ports on the bottom, it isn't really a ported cab in the conventional sense: Hybrid Resonator!
Mosfed, does that cab still have the quick sealed feel as one of the good ampegs, nv610 or 69'er?
In all seriousness, my super twin has almost the "taughtness" in response as a sealed cab bit with very nice bottom.

I've got a SC and a Hathor 1233. But that's as close as I could describe things. Never tried a TC.

My SC has opened up in tone since I got it. It felt a bit muffled or congested in the mids when I first hit it, but it's opened up and leveled out since. I now have a SM as well. I think the Hathor and the SM are most similar. The TC is very polite and smooth. It feels a bit scooped but nothing drastic, if I remember right.
In a band context, the SC has been great. Loud. Balanced. Responsive. I'm very happy with my purchase.
