I like Sox fans. Typically, they're not much different than I. they like baseball, beer, and they work hard. I've gotten use to the "Yankees suck" thing that they always seem to want to stick in my face and I always end up turning it into a conversation with whoever said it.
the only thing I can't figure out is why the Sox fans chant it at Fenway games when the Sox are playing someone else.what's up with that?
xgabriele is correct in that you don't hear it as often; but it is still around. For example, I watched a little bit of the rally and it started up there a few times. Although with much less enthusiasm than pre-2004.
One reason is that we love non-sequitor humor up here. Steven Wright the comedian is from around here. Yankees Suck when there are no Yankees around is just funny in and of itself.
I also see as a vestige of pre-2004 when there really wasn't a good (or even semi-rational) comeback for all the Sox frustration and Yankees success - so Yankees Suck works as well as anything. It is a very negative thing to say; but it came from a very real, very honestly felt negative feelings over the events that xgabriele described.
As far as the comeback for the anything Yankee-related "2004" works well for me -
what's up with that?
the Sox are looking like they are getting stronger with every game. I definitely wasn't expecting a crush of the LAA's ... but I'm definitely not complaining
Chucklehead!
