Regardless, they would be better asking Wakefield to give them an inning or two, even if he has to pitch the next day. :hmm:

Yep... Gagne's been worthless since he got to Boston. Too bad Beckett can't pitch daily!

why can't francona just give up on gagne already. he basically blew that game for the sox, just like every other time francona puts him in.

last night was rough. i was watching the game with a bunch of yankee fans at a party. it's ony one game. it would have been nice to have 2 under the belt before going to clevo but that's fine. we gave thir two best pitchers a work over early in the game. we had the 3-4-5 punch going on again. all they need to do is leave gagne at home, and get rid of him at the end of the year. i think they could have left okajima or ps in for a little longer.

Last night was a great back and forth game untill they brought Gagne in. He is seriously the weakest link in the pitching staff, yet Fran-Coma still puts him in like he wants to lose the game. As soon as I saw Gagne come in, I went to sleep. I knew he would give up the game. I didn't need to watch him do it.

watching the game with red sox hater yankee fans. yeah that was a great way to end a lame party.

hopefully epstein deactivates gagne and brings up tavarez. tavarez is nothing special, but i could pitch better then eric gagne.

That would be my recommendation. It is just not happening with Gagne. But I wouldn't hang the whole game on him.

Schill couldn't hold a lead and they had to go to the bullpen early. Delcarmen got them out of one inning but then gave up the lead in the next inning. At least Oki and Paps looked sharp. The Sox had their chances to score and the ball didn't fall in. Youk had a great at-bat with Ellsbury at second and he smoked a ball to the gap but their centerfielder tracks it down - sometimes they drop in and sometimes they don't - thats baseball.

These are the two teams that tied for the best records in baseball. Last night is what happens when two excellent teams go at it.

I have a feeling that Dice-K and Wake will rise to the occasion. Before the series, most people were giving Cleveland the edge in 1-2 starters; but Beckett was the only one who lived up to the hype. I think that the Sox have the edge in 3-4 starters; so we'll see how that goes when they actually take the field.

The Red Sox offense was simply shut down tonight. Dice K didn't pitch too bad, but not good enough without the run support. I new this series was going to be a tough one, but I didn't realize how tough.

Man, oh man. I can't believe how tough Cleveland's 3-4 pitchers have been for the Red Sox. The Sox just can't seem to read Byrd tonight. Wakefield has been pitching pretty well (up to this point), but you can't win a game without offense....

Ugh....7 runs in the fifth put up by the Indians. This has been a rough week in baseball for me, and a complete opposite of last week when the Sox swept the Angels, and the Yankees lost in 4 to the Indians. I was on Cloud 9 last week. Somehow I must have tripped and fell off. :D
