Oh no...that pic brought back mental images from that one eBay auction a few months back. I don't know if anyone remembers...it was some chick modeling that bass. I know that sounds appealing, but it wasn't pretty.

i dead serious almost bought it when it was on ebay that time..ive seen this the thing for sale quite a few times and its always held my attention like a trainwreck. this pic is from that same ebay photo set..i think if it pops up again im snagging it and legally changing my name to mothman

Yep its another one of those threads.... I'm looking to buy a new bass just for metal. My band plays things like Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot etc. As well as our own stuff which is a bit slower. I want a full, punchy, growly bass. I am thinking about getting and ibanez, good idea? What do you think?

Ibanez is definitely a good choice for metal. I would recommend the soundgear xtreme(srx) basses for a punchy, growling sound. I also would recommend schecter stiletto basses. they sounds awesome.

The best bass for metal is the bass you are most comfortable with, and that has a sound you like. These threads are a dime a dozen but people still post them

+1 Absolutely right. The one you're comfortable with, that you like playing.

Warwick, Ibanez, Spector, and ESP/LTD are pretty good.

But really, the way you play it is more important than what you're playing. An Ibanez playing country won't sound like metal, it still sounds like country. Likewise, you can have a Fender in metal, as long as you're playing metal on it.

Fender's are metal enough for Steve Harris, Ian Hill, and Geezer Butler...

I have an Ibanez, but really...

Steve Harris plays a Fender P-Bass.

If you like the sound, and it feels good in your hands, that's the bass you want. I think a better question would be "which amp for metal".
