And be aware there are different kinds of Furys. What you want are the made-in-USA models. These have the P-bass pickups or the single slanted pickup. The versions with the soapbar pickups are made in Asia and aren't terribly remarkable.

Both are great deals. However the Axcelerator seems very similar to my Shecter. I feel my tone would be expanded with the fury instead. Opinion?

Without hearing your Schecter (2 active MM-style pickups?), I'm certain a Fury will sound very different. The Fury gives you a standard passive P-bass tone. Which is one of the most desired tones in a bass guitar.

I don't think the Axcelerator will sound much like the Schecter. Those 18v VFL pickups have a sound all of their own. But in the end, if you want a bass that will give you a tone that your Schecter won't, then the Fury is the right choice.

Yes, I don't think the Schecter is going to give you that particular kind of tone, I like Schecter basses, but not the right tool for that at least not from the bass alone.
This should give you an idea of how the Peavey Fury sounds like.

Yeah thats a good representation of the bass. Ive owned a couple, nice basses for sure. You can upgrade the pickups and maybe hardware and be putting money into a quality bass, but you don't really need to upgrade them. I think these are better than their guitar counterparts.

Again, you need a bass with a bridge pickup to get the sound in the clip you posted: it will be difficult to get the same scoop or high end attack without one.

A PJ bass was used instead of a P on that track for a reason.

Not sure if they ever made a Fury in PJ form, but if they did that will get you what you're after.

Nice. Those are good basses, and it never hurts to have a Precision... so long as you realise that it is *not* going to give you the sound on the clip you posted.

I’ve always associated Jazz basses with Indie punk folk gutter grass bands.
