at Your budget just stick to what's working for you now! if willing and able to go up a bit I recommend a SSD or a music man! good luck..
That’s a really sweet bass though! Honestly that bass is probably as good as you can get in that price range. You can find Mexican Fenders in that price range and can definitely find the higher end squiers there.
I do believe its against the rules to cross post a classified ad in another's thread (can anyone clarify?) You'll have to find your way around the site.
The red peavey looks pretty beat up, and a cracked pick guard? That would be hard to replace I think.
Personally I put J necks on my P basses (which the peavey has) so that peavey is ready to go for me, I'd buy that black one. But the fender is more likely a better instrument over all.... something to think about .

Those ibanez talman basses should be able to do what you need based on the video you posted. Add flats, bias to the neck pup, roll off some tone knob and youre pretty much set on most basses
Though a fender would just look the part, its strange that there's no amp talk. Really, GHS or Fender flats on your Stiletto with its neck pickup solo'd and the treble rolled back a smidge and plugged into certain amps should get you most of the way there. The same likely could be said of a Ric, a Stingray, a Warwick Dolphin, or a Silvertone xvu5673. What amp are you using?
There are two MIM Standard P basses on Guitar Center used site for $399.
A MIM Pbass could possibly serve you well, for a long time. I learned myself, my first bass also being a Schecter, it is worth putting up a little extra dough to get it right the first time, because you will lose more money in the long run when you turn that $350 bass in and get nothing for it. Otherwise, why don't you look for a used Schecter Model T?
I have gotten replacements from Peavey for less than $25 shipped. That part isn't too hard to replace. I didn't look at the one in question but a mint condition USA Fury isn't too expensive when you find one.

The Men I Trust track likely uses a palm-muted Jazz Bass. EDIT: Looks like the guy uses a P/J USA Jaguar.

Just add some flats, tapewounds, rounds and piccolo strings in various tunings.
Reverb is legit, but I’d check out the classifieds here. I got a MIM P bass on here for $325 shipped with a hard case. It’s my favorite bass I own.

East coast of where? There are a lot of East coasts in the world. It helps to fill out your profile. People may know of local shops that are somewhat close to you that they could recommend.
I've bought and sold several items (basses included) on Reverb with no issues.
If someone is asking for something specific it's generally ok. We just don't want people spamming their FS ads around.
I haven’t seen enough difference between a VM Squire and MIM that’s worth the price difference. Get the Squire.
I second Reverb.com. I have bought and sold from them and have no complaints. It is run by musicians for musicians. Try the TalkBass classifieds first then Reverb. As for a lightweight bass, take a look at the Dean basses. I play a Dean Edge 1 5 string and it weighs about 7.3 lbs. I use D'Addario light gauge Chromes (ECB81-5) and it sounds and plays great!
I've tried one of these recently and they sound great.
With some flats, they will deliver that sound for shure and the looks fit well an Indie band.
